Legacy Pokemon Moveset

In your opinion, what is the rarest and the best legacy pokemon?
If you could choose one, which one should you choose and why?

The rarest in terms of numbers to enter the game is probably Stone Edge Blaziken due to how fast it was made legacy.

The current rarest is probably the ones people didn't keep. That is, SE Bkaziken people will keep...but how many would have kept Mud Shot Diglett and Dugtrio, or a Koffing with Acid?
These may actually be the most rare.

As for 'best' that is a little more subjective.

Special mention for Psybeam Chansey

Personally, I missed DB-DC DNite and would like that, if I could choose only one.

There was also a 30 minutes-or-so limited (read: accidental) release of bug bite shedinja.

But yeah, the rarest nowadays should be things like unevolved legacy specimens. I have been looking for someone that would trade me a psybeam chansey for months (had some with good IVs at one point but got carried away with the Blissey release and just evolved them all lol).

I have a perfect legacy SE Blaziken but it is useless. Best ones by far are SC Gengar, DB/DC Dragonite, and RT Omastar, but all three have better alternatives nowadays... Well, SC Gengar has its own Raid Day alternative but that one is also legacy now. RT Omastar is completely outshined by the new king of rock type DPS, Rampardos. Legacy Dragonite still kicks butt in PVP tho...

I missed Blaziken, and would love a DB/DC 'bite. The Shedinja 'bug' missed me.
...but the others we mentioned, I do have šŸ˜‰

IS/IB Lapras is also a strong contender for a spotlight in rarity. My first one ever had both moves and also happened to be perfect straight out of the egg, back when Lapras was the best and rarest defender (before Raikou was a thing and before people piled up armies of Machamp as essential). I maxed it out as soon as I could but it only had 2 months of use before the first CP rebalance. The worst part is that it being maxed out has CP above 2500 so I can't even use it for PVP. #Sad.

It is still one of my favorite legacy mons tho.

Had the same happen to a lucky Legacy SE Machamp that I got from a trade. I pondered a lot on what to do with it since it was under cp1500 IIRC but I ended up maxing it out for better gym coverage. A month later, they gave RS to all Machamp and it got outclassed by its current brethren. #sadx2. It still holds the 6th spot in my first 'champ squad because I invested too much on it and it is still serviceable.

I'm lucky enough to be the proud owner of a lucky IS/IB Lapras

I got Moltres'ed on my first Shedinja box, preventing me from even having a chance at its legacy move.

I had a psybeam chansey but accidentally transferred it a while back :(

This poliwhirl/move seems to be pretty rare as poliwhirl was the only PokĆ©mon to this day that has been able to learn ā€œscaldā€ (https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/pokemon-move/scald) and it went legacy about a month or 2 in to the game. Plus, it’s one of those ones, like you mentioned, that people most likely hadn’t kept.

Now that's legitimately cool. That's one I'd be extremely hard-pressed to give up. I think Brine Omanyte falls into this camp as well, being the only Pokemon to learn the move and being a base form likely was evolved out of it.

Wow, didn't even know about that one. Now I really want one, but I bet there are like only 10 remaining in the whole world on some abandoned accounts. That, to me, is worth one of my SB Mewtwo.

Not sure how rare it is, but I'm bemoaning TMing a Gyarados with Dragon Breath that I'm sure I had at one point.

I have a DB Tw Gyarados that I never use but keep for the legacy moves. It is just out of reach for Ultra PVP

Gengar with shadow claw, may be not the rarest but one of the most valuables along with dragon claw of Dragonite.

The Lick alternative mined the perceived trade value of it, but interestingly its owners are still very reluctant to trade them as SC is still better if you can fire off less Shadow Balls due to frailty (especially for borderline challenges).

I have one SC Gengar and a dozen Lick Gengar. You'd need to pry the SC one from my dead hands if you wanted it. At this point I think the SC Gengar is my oldest Pokemon from October of 2016.

I also have just 1 of them and blessed with 15A, but what I meant is that people wanted to trade with me and with other members of my community like crazy before Lick was introduced, and now nobody is even showing interest in it anymore. And as I said, that doesn't make you or me, owners of one, less reluctant to trade it anyway.

Iā€˜d assume an Ice Shard/Dragon Pulse Lapras would be pretty rare aswell, given how rare Lapras was back then. I think Iā€˜m lucky that I have one of those

I have one too. It was my very first Lapras hatch. I was so excited yet disappointed at the time because it was the worst moves for the tower gym system at the time.

If I could choose one I would take either DB/DC Dragonite because of its PvP use or a DG Alakazam because it makes Zam an even better pick in pokedraft. Honorable mentions to PB Chansey and IS/IB Lapras.

Steel Wing scyther because in 2 and a half more years when you can retain moves upon evolution it will give scizor a nice boost.

That's an optimistic forecast!

I wonder if that would save Togepi/Togetic candy waste for Hidden Power too.

Hidde power is randomized on evolution. It would be heat if you could retain the hidden power type if you rolled a good one tho

I think it was already posted somewhere, but shiny witch hat Pikachu with Present / Surf should be one of the rarest mons in the game. It required you to evolve your shiny witch hat Pichu during Xmas 2017, then CTM during Pikachu Community Day.

The one I've gotten the most use out of hands down is my SC Gengar. It tears through anything weak to ghost like hot butter and is one of my oldest Pokemon.

One I'd love to get my hands on is Dazzling Gleam Alakazam. It's actually better than Future Sight for cloudy Machamp solos and would be a fun, unconventional attacker when future gens are released if Hydreigon and Guzzlord become relevant.

Never heard of it, but I choked (ironically) when I read "Guzzlord." XD

My 3 main legacy are IS/IB Lapras which I PvP with and then a WG/RS Omaster and a KC/Sub Machamp. Love the Lapras. Was my first ever 10 k egg hatch.

Am I looking into a mirror? I'm also using Lapras IS/IB + Omastar WG/RS for PvP in ultra.

Omastar is a bit fragile, but fun to use when expecting fire types, especially charizard. Lapras is just amazing. I even gave him surf as second charge move to get shield down more quicker.

That's awesome. Did not think anoit other move. I forgot I also have a B/DP Gary too.

Yea surf as second charge move is definitely a recommendation! That is, if you have the candies for it. It gives better coverage and can be used quicker than ice beam.
