PVE Offensive Moves Explanation

  • Thunder Shock gets STAB and outperforms the other Fast Move option....
  • Don't use Tackle
  • Wild Charge pairs well with Hisuian Electrode's role and Fast Move.
  • Energy Ball is not an impressive move despite having STAB here.
  • Swift is even worse.

PVE Defensive Moves Explanation

  • Thunder Shock deals pitiful damage on defense, even with STAB.
  • Tackle is less likely to be resisted, but against a neutral attacker the lack of STAB is even worse.
  • Wild Charge performs well on defense, though it's easily walled by Ground-type attackers.
  • Energy Ball might catch Ground-type attackers by surprise, but its slow animation makes it easy to dodge.
  • Swift is terrible.

PVE Overview

The first Pokemon introduced into Pokemon Go from the game Legends Arceus, Hisuian Electrode sports a relatively unique Electric/Grass typing. Unfortunately its stats are almost identical to that of Kantonian Electrode, which isn't very impressive for the PvE meta. However its PvP performance is much more interesting.

PvP Moveset Explanation

Thunder Shock + Wild Charge and Energy Ball

Thunder Shock benefits from STAB and generates energy very quickly, letting Hisuian Electrode use its strong Charge Moves sooner.

Wild Charge can threaten massive damage, especially when stacked to 90 energy, but can be difficult to use with its harsh self-debuff. Energy Ball provides useful coverage against Ground-type Pokemon that doubly resist Electric moves, but its higher energy cost leaves more to be desired. Swift is terrible.

PvP Rating Explanation

Great League: 2 / 5

Hisuian Electrode sports a unique Electric/Grass typing which on paper makes it an ideal counter to popular Water Pokemon. Unfortunately, this version of Electrode is held back by several inconveniences, including an inefficient and clumsy moveset, weakness to common Ice-type coverage attacks, and unimpressive bulk from its stats. The lack of a low energy Charge Move to pressure shields sooner, or stronger damage output from its Fast Move to finish off low HP opponents, is the biggest issue holding back Hisuian Electrode. It would potentially be rated higher, but its struggle against Swampert if baited in the 1s fight is a big let down as an anti-Water Pokemon.

Ultra League: 2 / 5

Hisuian Electrode doesn't reach the CP cap of Ultra League, and thus it is recommended to Best Buddy one to give it the best chance of survival. Just like in Great League, its cumbersome movesets holds it back from challenging the rest of the meta and comfortably fulfilling its anti-Water role.

Master League: 0 / 5

Dragons are quite common in Master League, and consider Hisuian Electrode to be the annoying child that's always angry over never winning a game.
