Alola!
The main series games' 7th generation takes place on an archipelago region known as Alola, and this season Niantic is leaning into it hard! New Pokemon, new events, and new bonuses are leading us into summer (in the northern hemisphere, anyway), and Alola is the greeting to use for all of it!
The Story of the Season
This season doesn't really have a strong narrative to follow. Sadly, they dropped the ball on the big door for the season of Heritage, but the Season of Alola seems to just be.... Alola is here, which is good enough.

Seasonal Bonuses
- Pokemon originating in the Alola Region will become available throughout the season for the first time
- Incense will be more effective while moving, and lasts for 90 minutes
- Bonus damage for remote raiders
- Two free raid passes will be available via gyms every day
- Pokestops are guaranteed to drop gifts if the player has room
Special Research Lines
Special research will be available throughout the season, each one available at a specific point in time. Completion of these research lines will unlock a unique Special Research line on June 1, which will have bonus rewards. Players who do not complete these research lines in time will.
Note that each of these lines do not need to be completed before the next in the line. So long as they are all completed by June 1, you'll have access to the Special Research.
