Zen headbutt psychic blissey

I think this moveset is underrated, here is why... When attacking blissey I only dodge charge moves. I have personally had more difficulty dodging psychic over the other charge moves (but only when paired with zen headbutt). I find that zen headbutt and psychics animation are too similar and I can easily miss the dodge because of that. Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone have advice?

With attacking Blissey I look for the akward pause before the charge move and that is how I reliably dodge Psychic.

This has come up before. The Gamepress ratings are just plain wrong in this case. ZH/P is the second- or third-best defensive moveset for Blissey, and is far and away better than P/HB or ZH/HB. The latest Gamepress ratings seem to rely heavily on simulator data, without taking into account the fact that psychic is actually somewhat tricky to dodge, whereas any level 20 six-year old can reliably dodge hyper beam 98% of the time.

i don;t quite agree with this, HB very often causes death bug due to it's high dmg and long animation even when dodged wheras my preferred prestiger for blisseys - alakazam w/psycho cut - can easily react to psychic plus even a hit isn;t that damaging.

as for blissey vs. other teams i'd rate DG best by a mile, HB and psychic are roughly equal in terms of causing delays and annoyance but are no real threat. as i've found in real-world experience, HB is frequently more annoying even if dodged compared to an undodged psychic.

I respect your experience, but in my own, psychic at least requires a little concentration and attention, and it can screw up my plans if it hits. Hyper beam gives so much warning and time to react that I don't even have to anticipate it; I just wait for the hesitation and text, then go make a sandwich, throw my laundry into the dryer, and come back and dodge the hyper beam. And I don't know what we're doing differently, but in my PoGo world, an undodged psychic is much more damaging and problematic than a dodged HB, even if I only miss one psychic over the course of a battle.

This is based on using an attacker that resists Psychic though. A lot of people will be attacking with Machamp if they can, which of course takes more damage from ZH and Psychic. I agree, no doubt, that DG is it's best defensive move (I hate fighting against it!), but I think there's definitely a case for psychic being better than HB overall. I don't think it deserves the lower grade it gets on here anyway.

I don't have a double fighting Machamp, and I won't use one against Blissey unless she has P/HB.
I usually use my Counter/anything Ursarings for P/DG or P/HB, Exeggutor for ZH/HB, P/P and ZH/P, Flareon for DG.
I use Alakazam and Gengar for prestiging Blisseys below 2k.

Exeggutor, Alakazam, and Espeon excel against Blissey in the ZH/P matchup, but otherwise it's definitely better than any Hyper Beam set IMO.

B/SE Tyranitar feasts on this set. I always have time to dodge it. Not to mention he resists it too.

I think the moveset is fine but the more Tyranitars out there the less good this moveset will be.

I agree, Bi/Se Tyranitars eat those for breakfast. I can fit 4 Bites between quick moves, and almost 2 Stone Edges before release of Psychic. Even I miss some dodges thanks to its resistance, they don't really hurt.

T-Rex is best counter vs Blissey, imo.
It resist all Blissey moves expect dazzling gleam.
Thou it is bit slower than Dragonite.

I have a lot of trouble dodging Psychic because it is very fast.
BTW, Confusion is even more similar to Psychic.

Common counters to blissey can resist this set well. Eggman and Tyranitar are most notable. Yes, it hurts machamp, but I think (especially after rock event) more people have a tyranitar than a double fighting machamp (at least people I've spoken to). More than that, everyone has eggs with solar beam (also resists psychic) or maybe a FSOH flareon (neutral, so tie).
