Zapdos Assessment

Took it down with 9, but it wasn't easy. Zapdos feels more like Articuno or Lugia. My two cents.

From looking at sims it really looks like a "how many Golems do we have" test between trainers.

I agree.. having gone thru 2 Zapdos raids alr, I feel the Golems make a huge difference in survivability and damage. I went in with 3 Golems (2 Lv 30, 1 Lv 26) and 3 Tyranitars (Lv 35.5).

Managed to take down the Zapdos in a team of 9 (2 Blissey leechers) with 15 sec left... can see the Golems really dishing out the damage, about 6-8 rock throws/3 stone edge each.

Yep, we had about 15, and thrashed it. Start of battle, and all I could see was golems everywhere, not a Blissey or Snorlax in sight. Still plenty at the end, after my three were out and I was on D'Nite. It was gratifying that Golems got in 2-3 charged attacks, so unlike when I tried to solo an Arcanine with them and they went down like tenpins. It was laggy that day, though.

We took it down with 8 and had about 70 sec left over. Average raider lvl was 33 with 37 the and 29 the two outliers. I ran 5 good double rock golems and a Rhydon tank at the end. I saw a few other golems, and a Rhydon or 2, but the rest wasn't always optimal.
Edit: ours had thunder, thunderbolt would have been a very different story I'm sure

On my first one, we had 8, and it went down pretty quickly. I had only 3 mon faint. It did have Zap Cannon, which does pack a hefty punch.

But catching it.... oy. It zips all over the place, which made it very difficult to aim. I might use more Nanab berries on future ones.

No double weakness (or in Articuno's case, not strong against most mon that attack the rock double weakness). And the CP is pretty close to Lugia's too.
Just add a few more and it's easy. Yes, I know, easier said than done.

In theory Zapdos is the easiest bird.

Golem vs any of the birds on offense does 1.96 damage.

On defense, it took 1.4 from ice, and only .714 from fire. But because Moltress attack stat was higher + it's moves did more damage than Articunos, it was fairly similiar to fight. 2 Overheats killed a Golem same as 2 blizzards.

Now, Zap Canon and Thunder are both way weaker than Overheat and even fireblast. And golem takes only .51 instead of .71

Long story short, Golem (and rhydon) take way less damage from Zapados than Moltress/Articuno.

Tyrantir preforms about same vs all 3.

I can confirm that my maxed Golem was able to eat 2 Zap Cannons, no dodging. No way for this in Arti or Moltres case. At least one time I was even able to fire 3 SE.

I had 20 and didn't even make it past my third mon before we took him down. I'm fortunate to work in an area with high concentrations of gyms and motivated trainers. Almost always get at least 10 at a legendary or TRex raid.

Caught her on my first throw. 91 IV with Thunderbolt. Buh uh. Odd thing is that I haven't seen another one all day so far (even though two Lugias appeared).

Was ripping it to pieces in groups of 15+, all starting with Golems. Never lost more than 2 Golems befroe we got the kill.
Saw a guy get a 100% IV, and apparently the same guy got another at the next raid after I left them.

Surround it with double rock Golems and watch it fall.
