Your community event experience

I had a great day and it was a lot of fun seing the whole city full of players. Actually it seemed there were more people playing than not. What was your day like?
For mee the day already started great with finally getting my 100% Larvitar. Wild catch lvl 4, so I already knew where all the dust x3 from catching would go to. Evolved it and it got IT/Cr, so I fast TMed. Then just after the event started 9 10km eggs hatched with starpiece activated ~40.000 dust. Got Feebas, 2 Trapinch, 2 Bagon and 4 mareep. Then immediately got my first shiny dratini! Got another 10 km egg which I put into a fast machine, so 6,7 km was the goal. My best dratini catches were a 96% lvl 31, a 91% lvl 34 and a low level 100%. I got 8 shiny dratini in total out of approximately 170. 230.000 dust total. Evolved the 96% one to get DM and then the 10 km egg hatched a shiny dratini. Evolved it with DM too, even though it had bad IVs to get a shiny Dragonite. After the event I evolved the lvl 34 dratini and it got Hurricane (just what I wanted) and did a Rayquaza Raid where a wheather boosted 91%% fleed. Not all can be perfect for the day but I had a lot of fun and am looking forward to the next community day where I hope for Magikarp.

Had a great day. It started with my first pokemon of the day being a shiny duskull at a pokestop on the way.

The wife and I met up with our 2 daughters at a place with lots of pokestops that were pretty much all lured. We put lures out at the couple that weren't and got our first shiny dratini within minutes of the event starting. By the time it had ended we all had at least 3 shinies and a couple of 90% lvl 25+ dratini.

The only minor disappointment for me was we did 2 raids, Kyogre and Groudon and I couldn't catch either. I'm 0 for 2 now on Kyogre and probably won't get another shot since it's rare to have enough people around to do the tougher raids.

Caught over 100 dratinis and 3 shinys, hatched 2 new pokemon, racked up 80K stardust, and spun 4 new 10k eggs. I was fully satisfied at the 2 hour mark so the last hour was mostly driving home

Good day overall. I stockpiled Pinap berries and pokeballs a few weeks in advance, so i was ready.

Ended up catching about 120 Dratini today, though none of them were shiny. Scored around 140k stardust thanks to star pieces as well.

Net result: ended up with 2 new Dragonites. One at 89%, and the other 95% 15/14/14. I ended up pumping most of my new stardust into the 95%, resulting in a LV35 DT/DM Dragonite to compliment my 100% DT/OR. While some would consider it a waste, I'm happy.

In the end I still have 309 candy, so I should never have to walk my Dragonite again!

You know hatches from eggs were giving you regular dust, only dust from caught pokemons was icreased

As for my experience, I was first in town in terms of dragon medal, only played 30 mins and ended up last

Spent more time dealing with errors than Dratinis. :(

It was an amazing 3 hours, in my opinion. I caught a total of 10 shinies of which 1x 100% lvl 23 and 1x 98% lvl 35, with about 140ish Dratini caught during the event. I had a low cp Rayquaza error out on me, but I got 15 rare candy and a charge TM from it and later a pass back from Niantic. With this community day, I think a good Valentine's day would have been overkill.

I played together with some friends who "hated" me for my luck.

Saw a lot of friends/fellow players who I’ve gotten to know well over the last several months, but most of us were pretty absorbed in maximizing the event. So, as a result, it was not as much of a social event as it could’ve been.

I managed to catch about 130 dratinis, more than enough to get the gold medal. Found a shiny within the first couple of minutes..... but then found no more. But one shiny is better than zero I guess. Also only found two high IV (but low level) dratinis; the rest were junk. Fortunately I already had a couple good ones ready to evolve (including one I’ve been hanging on to since August 2016), so I used them to get the DM charge move.

Ran star pieces the whole time, like everyone, and got an OK (but not great) amount of stardust. I guess the biggest accomplishments were the gold medal, a couple new DT/DM dragonites, and several hundred candies in reserve, thanks to stockpiling pinap berries for a couple weeks.

Got Silver Medal after about 10 Dratinis. Then 29 more, 0 shiny. Unlike last event, where Pikachu dominated the scene, now Partly Cloudy spawns dominated with here and there a Dratini. So my average rate was 1 Dratini every 2.7 minutes. At 13:30 CET I evolved one of my Dragonairs I already had before the event, to get at least a Draco Meteor souvenir :)

I caught 60 dratinis for 30 minutes, you must have been in the wrong area

I went around the park several times, put some lures where others didn't cover the area yet, caught a bunch of Dratinis, though none high IV, and found 1 shiny Dratini near a museum at the park. Now it's a Dragonite with DT/DM.

Normally I'd see 2 people at most wandering about, but this time there were 2 groups of them roaming the area and one girl roaming alone in the middle of the park. I didn't contact them though, was still bitter over finding out they've been talking behind my back even though I've been part of their Facebook group since August 20th.

Caught about 100 Dratinis in about 2 hours, which was more than I had caught in the previous 19 months of playing !!

This was enough to get my Dragon gold badge.

Only caught 2 shinys, one of which I evolved into a green Dragonite (with SW/DM). Also evolved two other Dratinis to get DT/DM (which I powered up) and SW/DM.

It was windy with an icy wind from Siberia (I live in the Netherlands on the coast), so it was very cold and all players were wrapped up warm, but jumping up and down to keep warm and trying their best to keep the hands warm. Two hours was the most that most people could cope with.

Overall a very enjoyable event, but I agree that Dragonites are no longer so special.

Frustration from hell. First few hours error 26 and error 2 over the place and cannot actually play at all. Also no sightings loops. I had periods where there were no pokemon and nothing on sightings for over 10 mins and i have to restart the app. Thank god i was focused on catching dratinis so no dreaded raid kickouts. Also can log in normally.

Past the extra time i was actually able to play, but there was some ridiculous fleeing bullshit (Like 600cp dratinis breaking free from curve ultra greats without a shake then fleeing.) and i didn't enjoy it at all because it killed my berry and ball supply. At the end i got 4 dragon tail/draco meteor dragonites.

None of the good dratinis i caught were shiny, but i did have a really terrible shiny dragonite at the end of the day. Ah, also a 98% dragon tail/meteor dragonite.

If every community day was like this i would be better off turning flight mode on and going back home to sleep.

Thank god the next community day had bulbasaurs which i could care less because they are a nightmare to catch and i had like 4 or 5 venusaurs, most of the better ones having the dreaded sludge bomb. It's disgusting that it isn't anything worth of my attention and is also a nightmare to deal with in swarms.

My local group had a fantastic time. As with the Pikachu event, we reserved a pavilion at a local park and everyone brought food, drinks, and giveaways (like Pokemon pins). I think there were about 60 or more of us. When the event started, we started the hunt.

I caught 106 total with one perfect Dratini, a 91% level 30, and 6 shinies. As a bonus, some of us did a Ttar raid, and I caught a 98% with B/C. And I evolved 3 Dragonites during the event (the hundo, the 91%, and my highest IV Shiny). These were the first Dragonites I ever evolved that did NOT get Hyperbeam.

The only negative thing was that we discovered far more Dratini were spawning in the shopping centers across the street than in the park itself. (Really, Niantic?!?) So it ended up being quite a trek going back and forth. But several of us racked up more than 15,000 steps and had even more of a group bonding experience. All in all, it was a nearly perfect day.

It was icy cold and windy - great for the catches, but hard on the players. From one moment to the next the center of town was full of people milling around with their phones out. In the middle of this Groudon made an appearance and something rare happened: spontaneous raid parties. Seems like the small speck of green counts as park now, as on the next morning I finally got an EX-invite. Best event evar!
