Is Wobbuffet a good defender?

I think his terrible defense makes me want to say no, but worth it to try.

Nah, hes so weak in other areas. The only thing it would do is take a few extra seconds to beat it, but dish out no damage.

What's "defending"?

Is anything a good defender nowadays? I just put mons in gyms to show them off nowadays. My not so good Eevee, my Stantler, and my Parasect are currently wasting their time at some monuments.

I just place unevolved forms of desirable mons now so my teammates can get candy. Unfortunately I have a Larvitar that is almost at 6 days in a gym
