Will there ever be a Magikarp community day?

Gyarados can learn Surf, which will make it better for gyms, and it'll surely be a more exciting community day than *cough cough* Cyndaquil and Chikorita.

Much more interested in Cyndaquil and Chikorita than Magikarp, at least they aren't common spawns. But I already have the golden karp medal with all the events, would probably welcome Karp CD if I didn't.

Gyarados is also already the top nonlegendary of its type and I don't think it needs a boost. Meganium and Typhlosion getting better for unique solos is more relevant to me personally.

For how long will Gyarados remain the top non-legendary Water-type? Starters with Hydro Cannon are predicted to be better.

Gyrados has a niche even with Kyogre and one it likely will keep for a while. The fact that flying makes it take 2* NVE damage vs ground really ups the TDO, potentially making it worthwhile.

None of starters have a niche use vs Kyogre

They don't need a niche, because candy availability is such a big problem for Kyogre. Even making a full team of 6 at level 30 costs 396 candy, which is a lot to most players.
