Will the event mess up Eevolutions?

I just wanted to know if the quadruple candy event will affect Eevolutions. My wife has been walking her 96% Eevee for an Espeon (Pokédex entry and yes we know about the name trick. We just don't want to use it) She's way past 5 kms. so she doesn't really want to swap. I told her to take advantage of the event by walking either Chansey or Snorlax (she doesn't have a Larvitar yet) but she doesn't really want to. It's really her call but frankly I am also interested. Anyone who experienced this? What really matters? The 2 candies or the 10 kms. walked? Thanks in advance fellow trainers.

still a day to go before event and the weather is decent (at least where i am) so why not both ? hours stroll around the local parks and gyms and you'll have an eevee ready to go and a chansey ready for the event. either way i'd not worry about your buddy's distance too much, easy to make it up during event.

From what I understand it is the candy, but it would be nice if someone could back me up on this.

I would personally walk that 5km left and evolve that Espeon before it starts, who knows what will happens and still almost 2 days for the event to start...

In my personal opinion I would only walk Chansey, Snorlax, Larvitar or Dratini during this event and in that order.

Yeah, don't test it with a 96%. If you don't finish before the event starts, then still keep going until you get to your next candy after 10km.

I would try to complete the 10km before the event started.
If she fails she should get the high value candies and then can walk another 10km with Eevee after the event is over.

A few posts below they said you could get more candies if you walked 4km and a bit and waited for the event to get credit for the distance devided by 4 :D
