Will beating a legendary raid boss earn you a Mewtwo invite?

One article and some discussion that only 'normal' raid bosses give you a possible invite to Mewtwo.

Oh man if that's true then there goes about 70% of active players. And probably 90% of active gyms.

It's like pulling teeth to get people to come out to T4 raids anymore.

It is stated here in this article. Others just say raid boss. Maybe comicbook.com was inferring after the legendary bosses goes cause no one knows when Mewtwo starts and end but the end date for birds is 31st Aug.

My wife and I beat a Flareon FS/OH yesterday at a Starbucks gym. Covered a few checkmarks. Sponsored gym, at major shopping center, midtier raid. Plus I wanted to see the reward, at an opposing colored gym--she fainted, so I got almost all damage credit---I got 2 rare candy. She caught an E/OH 1628 on first throw (GR), she doesn't curve. I caught 1623 FS/OH on second throw curve w/ nanab. Already beat a Zapdos at the Sprint store at that same shopping center.

Who knows??!!?!
It is probably no more than a notification system (found in the data mine about a month ago)
If you have the gym badge then you will get a notification of the battle, and be 'invited' to battle it.

The battle will be open to anyone, but you will get advanced notice if it is a gym you have done a raid at (or maybe just have the badge for).

Niantic are vague so people over prepare, spending as much as they can...without a genuine need.

They will want as many people as possible to do the raids, so you will be able to do it even if you don't get the 'invitation' (advanced notification)

PLEASE NOTE - this is all just a guess, but I genuinely believe it will be something like this.

I 2nd this. As I've been saying in all these related posts, look at Niantic's track record-- they put out criteria before for legendary raids, and then there was no actual criteria. They're just tying to initiate more spending by making people fear exclusion.

Best guess this will be the same deal. You got a dollar?-- Niantic wants it.

I am with you a 100%, I have no doubt that everyone will get a Mewtwo invite, Niantic is not gonna risk a hate wave at the end of the summer, if this is not done so everyone has access to a Mewtwo raid then they will lose milions, not only now, but in the near future. Raids are the current end game, tell people that has been waiting for Mewtwo since the announcement trailer that they won't have a chance of getting it and it could be a hard time for Niantic to recover from it.

I would say that only having that gym badge and having done any kind of raid on that gym will get you the invite, even if you have only done 1 raid a day. Don't panic, they just want people to do that, panic and spend hundreds of passes doing as many raids as posible because after Mewtwo legendary raids will be probably gone for a while and their income from raid passes are gonna go down for sure (a lot of people has bought because of the boxes too).

I have 26 premium pases now, yet I refuse to do more than the free one those days, since they nerfed the rewards, me and most players in my town are trying to send them a message, we are not stupid, even with Mewtwo coming the recent nerf does not worth spending money.

This is a good question so far my raid trophy only goes up for standard raids not legendary so its possible.

Well all I can say is that the press release on Pokémon Go Facebook page states 'raid boss'. Comic book dot com is the only source I found that states 'normal raid boss'. Personally I think any boss.
I agree with the miscommunication niantic puts out. They change the criteria all the time. this sows doubt put dies keep everyone guessing.
