Why was I walking togepi??

I guess I can answer my own question: lack of info / knowledge.

I believe I was encouraged to walk togepi with the expectation that one of the gen 4 dragons would not be weak to dragon, and thus a fairy attacker would be immensely valuable.

However said dragon is dialga - who is weak to fighting (and NOT fairy!). So what use is Togekiss, when the optimal counter will be the fully powered machamp team we already all have?

Palkia is weak to fairy, and not weak to ice, however it's still weak to dragon. I guess I'll have some use there, as I missed the dratini CD, although walking dratini/bagon would have been more efficient, surely.

Assuming that Togekiss gets a fairy quick move (fairy wind is the most likely candidate), it will be a good DPS counter to dragon types that's also very tanky if they have dragon movesets. It won't have DPS anywhere near that of Rayquaza or Dragonite, but will be much bulkier in those matchups.

Also, if it gets access to air slash/sky attack, it may very well become the single greatest wall to Machamp where gym defense is concerned.

You can farm those candies. You can't farm togepi candy. Hard to come by.
Also you make your own decisions. Its to you. Walk with w/e you want as long as u are ok with it.

Lord Hanke was walkin a tentacool so, what the hell...

Copying what I said in another thread:

"With an assumed fairy type fast move with the same specs as Shadow Claw, Togekiss doesn't come close to [Garchomp, Mamoswine, or Dragonite] in the DPS department [against dragons]. It does make a fantastic tank though with higher TDO than Blissey and higher DPS than Gardevoir. That's hopeful thinking on my end, I don't have faith that Fairy Wind will be a Shadow Claw clone if introduced."

If we get a decent fairy fast move it'll be the best tank option against double dragon movesets due to higher TDO without completely giving up on DPS like Blissey.

Wouldn’t it be better on defense if it were a slower move with more damage/less energy? The attack delay on defense makes fast moves kind of lackluster. Confusion is great on defense, psycho cut is pretty bad on defense, for example.

I was talking about offense specifically. On defense yeah, something like Confusion or Volt Switch would be much more beneficial. That said, Togekiss with Air Slash would be effective enough on defense I think.

Moveset pending, as others have said, Togekiss is going to be a great Pokémon. It has double resistances to fighting and also resists dragon, making it a great gym defender against the two most common types used to clear gyms. If it gets a fairy fast move it’ll be a bulky dragon/fighting counter

Togekiss never had that great offensive potential due to its relatively low base attack stat, there are going to be better DPS counters against Dragons no matter what their secondary typing is.

I've been walking Togepi for a while because of the defensive potential and because it's some of the hardest candy to come by in the game at the moment.

in part, because 1 candy per 3km is faster than 1 candy per 5km.
