Why Piloswine?

I just don't understand using him, maybe a 6th pokemon? The attack is weak and it is super effective but with so many strong rock pokemon that were or are available why is Piloswine even a suggestion? low attack and double resistance. Just wondering, plus pokemon go press has him under good counters, i consider at best a tank counter.

I don't see anything wrong with piloswine being a good counter, what other Pokemon's do you suggest outside of the counters listed by GP?

Donphan? Nidoking? Nidoking with Poison Jab/ Sludge Wave could be pretty good. Ice will only do 1.4x Super effective damage, don't think it will do enough damage to be considered for a raid boss. It's like a snorlax against a Lugia, except snorlax has better defense and stamina and Piloswine has better Resistance.

I assume you a referring to Zapdos? If so then rock isn't any better than ice vs him. Unlike Motres/Articuno/Ho-oH, Zapdos isn't double weak to rock. Plus rock doesn't resist lightning attacks whereas Piloswine's ground typing does.

I was referring to Golem, Rhydon, Tyranitar. I feel as though enough people have these evolutions that Piloswine is not required unless you want a tank at the end, attack wise he doesn't come close to those 3. Most people have at least 2 of each Golem and Rhydon. Both of which are Ground. Piloswine doesnt even have a good defense. But whatever floats everyone's boats. I am just not understanding why Piloswine would even be a priority for Zapdos. Everyone Golem'd up and personally even a Donphan in my opinion would serve better. Tackle/Play Rough. Not being super effective but it's probably just about the same thing as using a piloswine.

Golem and tyranitar are on the list of counters all above pilow.

Rhydons charge attacks makes it useless in raids.

Donphan vs pilow
DPS/EPS; A12/10 vs B14/10
Charge
A33,52 vs B50,82

B has also double resistent, higher HP but a slightly lower defense

I personally have one golem above 2400 CP. the 70-90k dust per golem just isn't worth it imo. I do have a couple of high pilowswine caught with high CP and decent IVs. No dust cost.

Different side of the spectrum i suppose. Don't live in a rock biome, but i guess i was blessed during the rock event. And people will argue over that Golem being worth it or not, i getting at Piloswine is not worth it..... Golem has more overall worth in EVERY aspect even Zapdos raid than Piloswine. if you have him and that is your only option i feel bad for ya, but you do what you can.

I live in a larger city. No problems finding larger groups until the last 10 minutes on legendary raids. I came alone with 15 minutes left and we were 16 in our raid. Also there were two Moltres raids that my account could find nearby. No problems getting Moltres down. Why waste dust ? And stop banging on about golem. It is mentioned in the zapdos counter list and it's listed higher than pilowsine.

Crunch the numbers regarding Donphan vs pilo

Congratz, glad you have that advantage. Always great to have. Golem isn't the best at anything but i keep saying Golem because i mean honestly unless you didn't open the game the whole rock event week you should have like 2 golems.... He was as common as Pidgeys. Guess not everyone has a chance to catch a geodude and like you not everyone has the chance to just show up somewhere with 15 mins left and get a group of 16. Roll out with that Piloswine, Best of luck with your team!

I just rolled up on a huge group, they weren't gonna let me in cuz they were almost 20 and "waiting for one more". I just guessed and entered the lobby and jumped ahead of somebody in their "group". A lot of them were clueless, but clues not something you need with that many against this boss***beat it earlier today with 5, I had network error halfway through AND we still finished with 100secs left

For people that don't live near a rock biome, geodudes and larvitars are hard to come by. I'm lvl 35 and only have 1 double rock golem and 1 Ttar which has crunch and not SE. I have several rhydons but only 1 has SE and it has rock smash as a quick move. I do have 2 double ice piloswine so that is a viable alternative for me.
As for other ground types, they might be good for tanking but I don't think they would be able to match the DPS without having super effective moves.

To each their own, I honestly thought Geodudes were everywhere for the rock event because they are not common for me either. I live in a grass Biome. AKA does not help with any legendary raid. but that rock event got me 3 golems and 2 Rhydons. So i understand that maybe yes if you have nothing else, that is your option. But for the love of god putting in a Lick/Hyper Beam Snorlax is basically the same thing.

I'm in a grass biome, but another part of my city is rock...caught a 979cp geodude today, 3 more candies to get that 1502cp Graveler to a golem. Buddy walking it since back on my part of town

Have we had confirmation one way or the other on immunity x weakness? Does immunity override with just a set damage x(1/1.4/1.4) or do they both multiply in with damage x(1/1.4/1.4) x1.4?

If it is the first, like a lot of people were claiming (but never made sense to me), then Rock Smash might be the better fast move for Rhydon against Zapdos and Moltres. One resistance rather than one immunity.

If it is the second, then Mud Slap is still the better fast move because immunity x weakness would be equal to a single resistance.
