Why Niantic, why with the Bug?

Shedinja as a field research reward? I would have rathered a special research where I evolve a bunch of bugs or even a rare regular task like Spinda. "Evolve one nincada while having a pokeball in your inventory?" At this point I'm more excited about the regular pokeballs I can get from the field research than I am about the pokemon "reward."

Tldr: Shedinja boring and that makes me sad.

At least it's a step forward to releasing the entire generation. But I'd rather have taken Smeargle, my Johto medal craves completion.

i want to see if/how they implement its 1 hp stat and wonder guard, my gut tells me they won't do anything lol

I doubt it. It'll end up with 2 pre-balance/51 (52? depending on if it's rounded or floored) post-balance base stamina and lose its status as a novelty gimmickmon.

I hate to say it, but I'm expecting the lazy approach, where they'll give it its rock bottom HP and then do nothing at all to reflect its interesting ability from the main games.

Would be happy to be proven wrong though.

in truth, about 90-95% of pokemon in this game are just boring dex filler.

Though I do agree they should have done soemthign different than research breakthrough, at the very least, we'll be able to get 5 of December's breakthrough pokemon

If that makes you feel better, they are just stretching out any release to keep players interested, so they probably have another more interesting release planned for November. Otherwise choosing Shedinja as a field research reward doesn't make sense
