Why do people want 0% IV Pokemon?

* You can't check them without an extra appraisal tool and finding them likely needs a scanner
* They are basically worthless in battle and won't get strong no matter how you power it up
* Looking at them doesn't even look funny unless you have an external appraisal tool

So what is the purpose? Please tell me.

EDIT: My question is actually very simple, please don't misunderstand me. It sums up in one sentence: "Why do people collect 0% iv pokemon?"

So you are telling me my two 0% Mewtwo's are worthless? Dammit.

Because its rare.

Just for lolz I think, especially if the Pokemon is at either end of the awesome spectrum. Not too dissimilar to why people hold onto 100% versions of dex-filler Pokemon they'll never use in a million years.

I actually use my 100% Murkrow, just to poke fun at the gyms I take back after they took them from me.

My guess is that people want to keep them as souvenirs, despite the IVs being on the very lower end of the IV spectrum. Considering that there is only one possible combination for 0% IVs just like there is only one possible combination for 100% IVs, the rarity of a 0% IV Pokémon showing up is probably what people highly desire.

Otherwise, yes, you're entirely right, there really is no practical use for Pokémon with 0%. I've accidentally come across a handful of Pokémon with 0% IVs before, but I personally don't keep them.

I've only come across one 0% mon, but I'm keeping it in case trading is introduced, especially as it's this fella:

Rarity. They're even rarer than 100% pokemon (since eggs, raids and weather raise the possibilities of 100%s). As far as scanners go, none of my 10 or so perfects or my 5 0% are from scanners. Play enough and you will encounter them.

As for being worthless no matter how much you power up, you are straight up wrong. Species, type advantage, moveset and level matter much more than IVs. A level 40 0% Machamp, despite its sub 2500cp, takes down a 100% L40 Blissey in 57s with perfect dodging, which is 9 seconds faster than a 100% L40 Dragonite. It would be stupidly inefficient to spend all those resources on a 0% Champ, but it would still be a better Blissey-killer than almost any other species if you did.

EDIT: Just for curiosity's sake, I checked and a 0% L40 Machamp's actual stats are very close to a L30 100% Machamp. So yeah, that's a lot of wasted candy and dust, but a L30 100% Machamp is far from worthless in battle.

Lol I got 2 0% IV Pokémon, but none with 100% IV. Didn't use a scanner to catch the 0% IVs.

I encountered 1 more 0% IV Pokémon with a local tracker, but I did not catch it.

I encountered my first ever 100% IV Pokémon, but it ran away lol, that damn CP 364 Kakuna, no scanners used.

If it ran away and you didn't use a scanner, how could you possibly know?

Up

by looking at the CP. the same way people at a legendary raid know when they are staring at a 100% mon and can't catch it.

Up

In a raid you can know the iv because the level is fixed. You can't do that on a wild catch unless it is at maximum level (30 or 35 depending on the weather).

So you are telling me that my 0% IV Pidgey is completely useless? No, it can be used to save revives, just leave it fainted.

You would think after being shellacked yesterday over your “play my way or else” garbage you’d learn that people play the way they want. It’s fun for some people. Bottom line. They’re as rare as 100% and peoples like them as trophies. Can I go back to eating my Apple Jacks now or do I need your permission?

Totally agree...but even rarer than 100%.
The rates from hatching and raids increase the odds of 100% but nothing improve the chance of 0%.

You missed the point. If i would had been smarter i would had been asked this: "Why do people collect 0% pokemon? gotta know the reason."

My 0% Snorlax named Absolute Zero is probably my favorite trophy mon.

Then you'll love this one.

I only evolved the pidgey because it couldn't get an accurate reading. Pidgey cp at lv1 is always 10. I tolled the dice on this one and it seems to have worked. I received a more accurate reading. Unevolved its quite literally the worst pokemon in the game: lv1 0% pidgey. That's a serious trophy

Because they are $*#& Awesome and Rare!

Pokemon are not judged just by power, they have other great qualities, read the series.

Personally, I have been lucky enough to be blessed with a 0% Mantine, Spheal, Gengar, and Seedot.

0 HP = fainted...revive and rejuvenate. There are no innately 0 HP Pokémon. That is until you get one...Oopsi.
