why do lures suck balls?[whining]

so I used my first lure for the last couple months today because it was just taking up space and I thought it would maybe spawn something nice... of course I was wrong.
I think they should remove lures all together from the game because they are a total waste of money and coins. I caught 3 pidgeys, 4 rattata and 1 ditto. this is a plain joke.
I'd rather have 6 incubators or incense when I reach lvl 30 instead of this usless piece of trash

How are your experiences?

Yeah my experiences are the same. Almost completely pointless item, even for beginners. Maybe it would be worth trying in a really remote area with just one stop around?

To take advantage of lures and make then useful, gather some friends, drink coffee at the local cafe close to pokestops and lure them up. 1 lure at a time, if more it's even better, and all take advantage. The more the merrier.

yeah I did that before and ended up with 20 pidgeys 2 evees and 30 rattata aprox. I think you missed my point

They'll only bring in what's generally found in the area - your best bet is probably to use one on a pier or bridge. I've used one to harvest Magicarp and Poliwags - they work as advertised, but I'd never buy one.

Using one in a town centre will just bring in the usual rubbish.

Yep, they are pretty useless. Even walking around my neighborhood finding wild pokemon will give you stardust faster. You can get lucky sometimes though. I have found wartortle, dratini, and several dragonairs before.

In my experience, incense is even worse. I have only ever found pidgeys, rattatas, and like 1 eevee.

but there is at least they thing with better spawns when using incense out in the nomansland

Very true! If I could find no mans land some day I should try it. The population density here is huge, like back to back villages.

I tried it on the top of the mountain once but still got pidgey.

I live in a very rural area (lvl 26) with 4 spawns and no pokestops, so incenses are really good here. The best I have seen was a Dragonite on October full moon around 9 PM, although couldn't catch it... Other things I've seen include Ivysaur, Wartortle, a few Kadabras, Magneton, 2 Dratinis, a Vulpix, a Growlithe etc. All pokemon I never see here otherwise. It can literally spawn any Pokemon here. The rares start spawning when I'm far enough from the spawns, you should really try that if you have the chance.

I got Snorlax and Dragonite from lure.
Well many others got them too xD

There used to be time when i go out for each lure that i saw, but these days i dont have patience to stand in one place for 30min., so i just ignore them.

Its very rare that you get Snorlax or Dragonite from them anyways.

yeah I went out for all the lures too when I was about lvl 15 or so and happy for every catch.

I hope you enjoy your rares, at least some of us are lucky sometimes :)

Level 33 here and I have been in tons of lures for the first 2-3 months of the game, here on my town we used to get like 10-20 people around a 3 lure spot near the river, I have to say that I don't do that anymore because most people have stop playing and it's cold now, but from the lures we have not get anything rare ever.

Most rare lure spawn for me has been an Ivysaur and a Wartortle, most been pidgey, rattata, weedle, caterpie, oddish and bellsprout, from time to time 1 lure start dropping water mons, 0 dratinis, almost all psyducks and magikarps.

The 3 pokestops had lure 90% of the day during those first 2 months. I bought lures once, and I really regret it, at least it was not with real money. In my opinion yes, they are completely useless, probably in places like New York or Santa Monica with thousands of players it will spawn a Dragonite each 10.000 lures.

In my experience it depends very much where you use them. I once went to the beach and there was a pokestop. I had some time to spent, so I thought, yeah ... let's catch some extra pidgeys with this lure I got from leveling. To my surprise, only water pokemons appeared.

Can't say I disagree. I almost never get anything noteworthy from a lure. Most of the time I just get the common stuff around my area like Sandshrew, Paras, Rattata, Pidgey, and Ekans.

I have had a few outliers however such as a Clefable and a Hitmonlee. I even saw a Blastoise spawn off the Long Beach triple lure.

I've actually saved up most of my incense and lures and have 8 of each. I've never really used them. I'm not really near much water so sometime I plan to drive down to the water and toss up a few lures and hopefully get some water pokemon I don't normally get.

I'm level 31 now and I have only ever seen 1 Dratini spawn. Magikarp are extremely rare too and I walked 300km to finally get a Gyrados. Good times.

I ever got Gyarados and Omastar from lure I don't think it totally useless.
