What is your experience with lure modules? I stumbled upon a cluster of three today all within 100 yards. For thirty minutes all i encountered were pidgey, spinarak, ratata, and natu. There was one Pidgeotto but it fled on me.
I think they should guarantee at least one rare/uncommon/out of biome spawn. I could have had better luck walking. My only solace was they weren't my lures.
It depends on the area you place them, they lure the same kind of pokemon. I like to place lures in areas that have unusual pokemon for my biome. Also a tip: use an incense when you aren't near any pokemon spawns -- you will get random pokemon, without biome limits.
I get your point about a guranteed rare/uncommon but do you REALLY want that pineco/sudowoodo?
Lures are not at their best for individual players, but for groups. As the original poster said: "they weren't my lures." 100 coins for about 15 dull Pokemon over half an hour of wait is not a good deal. 100 coins to be part of a group, harvesting about 60 Pokemon during that half hour looks much better.
They are usually quite bad. But the best lure I had was during the water event. Tons of awesome water mons spawned at the lure. I really should have used more during the event but I was usually walking around rather than standing in one spot.
Maybe wait for another event like the pink mon event or the water event. Usually much better for lures during these events.
