Why Do Girls in my PoGo Group Have all the Luck?
This isn't me making a sweeping sexist generalization worldwide. Everyone in my small Pokemon Go friend group that is a girl has way more luck with this game than the guys. Here are some notable examples - and note the guys don't have any super lucky occurrences that outdo these:
Sample Size: 4 Guys, 5 Girls
- All of us caught our first good (91%) Magikarp - since my only powered Gyarados, shiny for one of the girls.
- EX-Pass count for girls: 17 EX-Pass count for guys: 14. Note that the guys in the group (myself included) raid WAY more often than the girls, definitely well over 4x as much.
- The Mewtwos of the girls are more on average WAY better IV than the guys. My girlfriend is the best example - Compared to me, she has 78%/84% (14 ATK)/87% (15 ATK)/89%/89%. I have 82% (10 ATK)/82% (10 ATK)/82%/84% (15 ATK)/87% (10 ATK).
- Rare and powerful mons run on the guys (particularly me and one other) WAY more often than they run on the girls when we Pokehunt together. This is notable when I would catch for them, I would Pinap their catches and Golden Razz mine (they had less Golden Razz) for usually the same catch rate, but mine would take more balls and would sometimes run. Note that I and the other guy have the most Gold Medals of the group.
- Their Raid Boss catch rate is WAY higher than ours. I usually do the catching for half of them, and my girlfriend is currently 12/13 on Kyogre despite getting the lowest ball bonus (weak mons, wrong team) and only having the Silver medal on most mons including water. This is as opposed to my 15/27, and my poor friend's 1/9.
- Their IVs on their Raid Boss catches are absolutely wild. One of the girls already has a 96% 15/15/13 Kyogre, and another has a 93% 15/13/14. The only other one with another decent Kyogre was the 98% I just got. HOWEVER, I was raiding on my gf's phone too and her's was a 100%! She only had 6 balls so I was thinking "With her silver medal at least she won't get it." Absolutely wrong! She caught it second ball, while mine took 11/12 balls (second-to-last). I've never even seen a perfect legendary! Further evidence - another of the girls did only one Lugia raid with me and hers was perfect! She caught it first ball! I devoted myself to Lugia raids during the majority of the bird event and only got up to a 93% (a 96% also last day after I had the 93% powered), and I participated in around 20 Lugia Raids (Yes this is not that many, but still 20x her raids!). Overall, only ever SEEN two perfect legendaries both in the talons of our group's girl squad.

Girl#1 - Gastly

Girl#3 - Pichu (Hat)

Other info: The guys generally raid the most. 2 of the guys and 2 of the girls do the most PokeWalking (myself NOT included). The other 3 girls almost never go out for PokeWalks or raid, one of these being my gf.
This is not me complaining that I don't have enough awesome stuff (I have a lot of good 98s and a lot of Stardust!), but instead looking comparatively at the females in my Pokemon Go walking group.

Are they all using female characters too?
Oddly I do get quite a lot of luck (aside from no EX pass, I don't even know where those events happen, but I guess Romania is not on the list).
I've got 2 shinys that are not Magikarp (Raichu caught way before the surfing pikachu event and Banette), my top attackers are above 90% IV (though I've had quite a lot to catch until I've found them), found several 100%s (best ones being a Rhydon, 2 Xatus, and a Magmar, and the weak ones a Murkrow and an Ariados) and caught almost every raid boss I've soloed up to Porygon with Solar Beam level. No legendaries though. I have no luck at finding people who can cooperate properly, and other times I'm just too scared to even ask for help from others I see around who are minding their own business.
How would the game even know, or care, if you're male or female? You can't always go by the avatar either.
IMO it's all RNG.
As a whole, your group is much luckier than most. You have had several EX-raid invites that many of us can only dream about; in fact, this "lucky" female, lvl 39, had the only pass she ever received stolen from her by Niantic. Now that's REALLY lucky.... NOT.
So, no. It's all RNG.
Well, I mean statistically that's not shocking to see that type of thing with such a small sample size. If you look at a larger (game wide) audience, you would likely see much more balanced "luck". It's like flipping a coin, if you flip it 1000 times, you are bound to get small chunks where it's all heads in a row or something like that, but once you get to a larger window, it averages out.
You have a subconcious gender bias. If the guys were getting all the luck it would make you calm and fit with your expected natural order of things and you would chalk it up to a quirk of the RNG. However, when it's the female that have the luck it is a disturbing, anxiety provoking occurrence, something worth posting on game press because it obsesses you so much. Attributing it to the RNG isn't sufficient because it's so unsettling to you. The game is unable to perceive the gender of players, but you are. I suggest just relaxing and enjoy, if you can.
