Why can’t we remote berry feed without GPS signal?

It’s remote feeding after all. Does it even matter where we are?

Especially because I can’t defend gyms while on the MRT (subway rail)

If you are close enough to the gym, your Pokémon gains normal amounts of motivation. Niantic needs to check if you are in the "normal feed range" or not.

Can’t they just use the minimum amount if the location is unknown? Whether I'm 500m or 500km or 500000km away from the gym doesn’t matter, a GRB still restores full motivation.
