Who are you walking as your buddy?

Hey all, I'm a level 31 player with no legendaries, no tyranitar, and generally bad spawns around me overall. With that aside, I was wondering who everyone walks as their buddy and why-- Eevee for easy Espeons? Dratini for Dragonite candy? Larvitar? Mareep? Or someone new like Bagon or Beldum?

Bagon with average IVs so I’ll have the candy banked for a good Salamence.

Trapinch until I will find beldum or bagon.

I got one Bagon and one Beldum this weekend...both bad ratings, walking the bagon. Switched from ralts.

Walking a dratini to get a dragon up to breakpoint, but will switch to bagon when I get to a good switching point.

Thinking of walking a feebas but waiting on that one. The IV’s aren’t great, but it’s Lv 35. Will wait til I have 200 candies so I can Evolve a second one immediately if I get a better one.

Current buddy: Beldum

Significant buddies (at least 100km):
1. Ralts
2. Larvitar (longest)
3. Chansey
4. Machop

Short-term buddies:
1. Eevee (twice)
2. Cloyster (was rare in the Dragonite-dominant era)
3. Lapras (may walk again; recently hatched first wonder)

Future buddies:
1. Bagon
2. Feebas
3. Mareep

How do you get so much distance?? My farthest buddy is Heracross @ 73 KM (arguably a waste, still haven't gotten optimal moveset/good IVs but also don't have Machamp). Just switched off since I stockpiled a bunch of candy during the last event.

100km is nothing.

I've walked feebas for 300km .... and Chansey for more than 380km.

I normally get roughly 2-3KM a day from driving to/from and walking around campus. That 700 KM would be a dream!

My longest distance buddies are Tyranitar at 973.5 and Dragonite at 773. I have quite a few others (Machamp, Gardevoir, and Charizard to name a few) over 200 km.

I have "walked" over 1700 km (a significant portion from public bus rides).

I wish buses around here move that slow .... :(

The longest distance I've walked with a buddy was 1808.5 km on my first dragonite...

Sounds like I should switch my buddy to Beldum from Dratini since I was lucky enough to find one!

Since around Halloween, I've been alternating Raikou (520km total) and Lugia (186km). I don't particularly get the opportunity to raid all that much during the week bc work hours conflict with raid hours, so rare candy is a tremendously precious resource to me. I typically try collect half my power-up candy requirements from walking, and top it up with RC, and each week or so I'll get to power up one legendary once.

Bagon or Beldum (if I ever catch or hatch one) would be tempting choices too, though.

I walked a Larvitar for 10 months and stopped when I got my fourth Tyranitar. I have 5 now and want a total of 6, but I switched to Ralts as soon as I hatched my first one and I'm currently walking one of my Gardevoirs because she is my favorite gen 3 Pokemon and I want to max out both of them (93 & 96% with 15 attack). She is awesome in gyms and both are currently level 35. I think after I get them to level 37 I'll switch to something else and rely on hatches and wild catches to get the remaining candies that I need. I'm not sure what to walk next because with 2 good Dragonites and 6 Rayquaza already I'm in no rush for Salamence and Metagross has terrible moves.

If you have no Tyranitar, I strongly recommend walking Larvitar because Tyranitar is already super useful and will remain very valuable for years to come because there are more Psychic legendaries coming and Tyranitar won't be outclassed until gen 6 at the earliest.

I have a 15/11/15 Pupitar with 56 candies, I guess I should opt for this over Beldum. It still needs powered up too unfortunately

15/11/15 will make a fine Tyranitar. Once you experience the power of a level 30+ Bite/Crunch Tyranitar, you won't regret your decision.

Unless Niantic gives them even worse moves.

Hydreigon:
Bite, Dragon Tail
Dragon Pulse, Earthquake, Fire Blast

Darkrai:
Feint Attack, Shadow Claw
Aerial Ace, Psychic, Thunder

Shroomish. Because I want a Breloom. After that I guess I'll walk a Beldum but won't evolve that one, I need a better one. Already gathered 400 Wailmer candy, waiting for the 15 attack 80%+ one.

Just an FYI, Shroomish can nest AND can spawn from Clear weather. You may want to consider a non-nesting species, as I once had the tri-city area's largest nest as Shroomish and easily got enough to evolve three Breloom just from visiting for raids.

Just trying to save you some candy! 50 Candy isn't a whole lot, you may want to start walking Beldum now - now that the gen3 event has ended it looks like Beldum and Bagon are hardly spawning at all!

I know it can nest, but I only needed a few candies and no Shroomish nests nearby. Got my Breloom yesterday, and now I'm walking the Beldum. Though the other contender was Vigoroth but I tend to hatch Slakoths more often than anything else from 10km eggs anyway.

Mudkip since no Mudkips do appear in here

Before the event of December was over I saw some few Mudkips and I managed to catch those ones. They don't appear after the event though

Was about to start a thread on the same question.

I've finally got 100+ feebas candies from walking but still no good candidate to evolve. Now I've switched to Bagon. Was also walking ralts before feebas.

Thing is, I already got enough Chansey and Larvitar candies from the last safari event. So I'm not in need of gen 1 & 2 non-legendary candies. Still not sure which gen 3 is worth walking for candies.

Currently walking Beldum as I plan to max one and evolve a high-level second.

Past buddies:
Ralts (~180km)
Larvitar (~500km)
Dratini (~300km)
Porygon (~220km)
Haunter (~110km)
Togepi (~50km)
Shellder (~30km)
Squirtle (~10km)

Beldum's at about 36km so far. I generally don't walk or Rare Candy for DEX entries - I feel Metagross will be solid should the regis come out, great for handling ZH/DG Blisseys and Con/DG Gardevoir, and a decent gym defender to boot.

Currently, Bagon. I switched from Beldum after noticing it is quite common around here. I was walking a Feebas before that but stopped at 180 candies.

Nope, it is one of the many desert variants, and it has a very odd S2-based "urban" spot in the middle where a lot of fighting types, snubbull, and rock types appear. So I call it "urban desert" because of the type distribution. 20% of spawns are fire, another 20% are ground, 20% are rock, 10% are Machop. and the rest is a hot mess of a mix that includes everything EXCEPT dragon, ice, and grass.

Currently Wailmer but thinking about switching to Ralts

Prior: Eevee, Mareep, Eevee, Geodude, Chansey, Omanyte, Magikarp, Growlithe (1st buddy)

Currently Wailmer, but open to a new friend. This one is putting on weight.

Bagon. I hatched a 599 CP (15/15/14) one (gigantic in size too!) and have been walking it since.

Shelgon. Hatched a bagon, evolved into shelgon instantly then walked it.

Walking Beldum, switched from Ralts. Significant buddies before Ralts being Larvitar, Chansey, Dratini. When I reach 200 Beldum candy I'll change to Bagon if I've gotten one by then, if not I'll walk Trapinch. Salamence and Flygon are dex fillers but I don't have much of a need to walk for meta relevant candy anymore so I can concentrate on the hardest dex entries instead.

In your situation I'd walk Larvitar. Espeons are good for Machamp soloing but take only 10km each, Dratini candy will be available on the next community day and Mareep is a dex filler.

Currently walking Vibrava, but might switch to Mewtwo just for the hell of it.

I finally go a Machamp with C/DP, so I'm walking one of my BP Machamps for power-up candy. Machop is somewhat rare near me, as are Machamp raids.

Trapinch. I've only found two so far and am sitting on some 10K eggs until I get a few more to incubate.

I haven't found a Bagon or Beldum yet, but if I did I would probably switch to those.
