which pokemon to keep?

I'm level 24 and my pokemon storage is getting pretty full. I'd appreciate some advice about which pokemon to keep and which to ditch? There's a few things to think about:
1) Gen II- I'm not entirely sure which pokemon we have now that will be useful in Gen II, but I'm guessing Eevees are always useful, so I'm keeping all my high iv or high CP Eevees. If anyone can give me a list of which pokemon will be useful in Gen II that would be great.
2) I might get rid of all the ones that are not useful defenders or attackers. I suppose there's no need to keep Persians, Gengars for example even if they do have a high CP/iv.
3) is it worth keeping the high iv or CP ones with bad movesets in case we can reroll them later?
4) I could upgrade my pokemon storage, but I'm only level 24 and don't have many coins coming in... so I'd rather use my coins on incubators.

Wellcome to the club!

We all have that problem.

I choose my mons by IV if they can be evolved, because the move set will change.
If they can not be evolved I consider IV and move set.

High CP is only important for very high CP that can land a mon in top of the gym, otherwise high CP is only a disadvantage.

Low IVs don't matter if you're not going to power them up. You can just use them as gym fodder if candies are not hard to get for that pokemon, until you get one that's better.

And in what way is high CP a disadvantage. inb4 training gyms.

You won't regret a storage upgrade or two. You probably won't get much from just one or two incubators.

These are the best recomendation:

1) Eevees are not the true gen II treasure, HORSEAS are, Kingdra will have a excellent typing and great stats. keep good horseas/seadra and candies.
2) this is a personal choice, but i only keep the best IV/CP evolved useless mons, for pokedex purpose (i.e. one 1500 CP gengar/ one 1700 rapidash) if you're a pokemon lover like me, you can do that :)
3) no, unless its Snorlax or lapras, they're ALWAYS useful, no matter the IV or moveset.
4)I recomend use your coins on Lucky eggs and get to lvl 30 the quickest as possible, after that you wont need to wory about leveling anymore and can go to incubators.

Hoping the best :)

I have a couple recommendations based on what I've read.
-Id save a couple Gengars with double ghost moves. Hes the only ghost pokemon currently so STAB ghost moves may become useful in the future. I didnt watch Pokemon so maybe this is a bad recommendation. If anybody knows more about this pls share. I dunno if in Gen 2-7 theres a superior (high CP) ghost mon.
-I dont think trading will ever occur but it might. I delete anything that cant be used fighting IE bad movesets and under 2K cp.
-If your a "free" player then I highly recommend you stop using Incubators. Hitting level 30 is Goal #1. As a level 30+ I catch 1000+cp Growlithes and 800+cp Exeggcute's and you can too. After that you should save those incubators for events. The next event may offer double candy and event exclusive mons.

Since you seem to only care about having pokemon that are competitive for gym battles, if you're not a collector then there's no need to keep non-viable pokemon even if they have good IVs. IVs are only additions to base stats which means 0/0/0 pokemon with high base stats still outperform 15/15/15s with low base stats.

It's worth keeping competitive high IV pokemon in case they do allow trading or move rerolling. High IVs are far harder to get than 1 candy for that pokemon, you'd be more disappointed if they announced move rerolling after you transferred a high IV pokemon with a bad moveset than if they didn't add move rerolling and you had one that was sitting in your bag gathering dust.

imo incubators are useful for F2Ps who want to maximise lucky eggs by evolving 9 10k eggs at once. If you don't pay for coins then you probably don't have the ability to keep 9 incubators constantly running, and having an extra incubator here and there wont make that much of a difference to your overall levelling speed in my opinion.

So if there's not much reason to buy incubators, then get bag upgrades or lucky eggs - although you might need to get bag upgrades first to store enough pidgeys to mass evolve in the first place.

wow, thank you to everyone who took the time to reply- some really useful advice! I have been obsessed with buying incubators but I will rethink my overall strategy and focus more on levelling up.
