Which one to power up Venusaur or Tangela?

Grass type is very rare in my area (i live in a desert biome). And yesterday, i was fortunate enough to evolve my first venusaur because of the event and also hatch my first tangela. I really want a good grass type attacker to counter those pesky vaporeons. Which of the two is worthy to be powered up venusaur, tangela, or should i keep farming for a better venusaur?

Lvl 25 Venusaur
Razor leaf/petal blizzard

Lvl 20 Tangela
Vine whip/solar beam

Congratulation! You have both real attackers against water type pokemons. They are more or less the same in stats. Keep them. Use Venusaur for AquaTail and WaterPulse Vapos and Tangela for Hydropump Vapos.

Tangela if you want to train through Vaporeons. If you want to attack, definitely go for Venusaurs with all grass-type moves to beat them faster. Venusaur with SoB is the best when attacking, but PB is also useful, just not as good, and at least better than SlB.

I actually find Petal Blizz more desirable on offense. It's JUST the perfect cd time to fit a dodge in after using before Water Pulse. (Unlike Power Whip for Tangela )

While it will lower your dps by a tiny bit (3% all out dps according to calculations) the extra survivability means you can go through more Vapes before healing or fainting

Plus, less wasted energy waiting for the right time to use.

I had both at lvl 30 and powered up Petal Blizz over SB. No regrets. I can safely cover at least 2 Vapes with 1 Mon, even if they're 2800+ CP

If you have trouble finding grass-type Pokémon, Jolteons and now farmable santa hat Pikachus/Raichus are still good attackers to beat Vaporeons.

I do have jolteon but i find it lacking with discharge still waiting for one with thunder. Believe or not eevee are not very common in my area thats why its taking me long time to find a good jolteon. So far all i have are vapereons with water pulse (already did the name trick btw.) Same with raichu.

Although they are all D-rated, discharge is definitely better than WP when attacking. Discharge is not nearly useless, just not as good as Thunder and thunderbolt. Also that discharge is a decent move defending compared to thunder.

Can confirm. Use discharge all the time. Both on Jolt (5/7 of mine so far with it) and magneton (his only electric charge move) and I've warmed up to it, esp with prestige Mons.

It doesn't do much dmg but the cooldown and animation are very fast so you can use them constantly. Its like x-scissor vs exeggutor. You can still dodge between all Gyarados attacks after you use it - even twister

I wouldn't power up a Jolt with it (my fave actually TBolt), but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to use it to prestige gyarados

Wait for venusaur with VW/SB or PB

You might not love this answer but I'd hold off.

Tangela best used as prestiger due to lower overall max stats/cp. Plus, Vine whip/petal blizz is currently best grass moveset in the game IMO

Venu is a beast, and already level 25 but ideally I'd wait for Vine Whip.

Event is still going on-see if you can't catch more before it ends first =)

If event ends and still nothing, id still power up venu over tangie

Hi, my two venu's are rl/sb and rl/pb. I reckon by the end of this event, I'll have enough candies to evolve 4 venu's. Alternatively, I can use these candies to power up the existing ones. Which is a better way to go?
Tks.

I'd still go petal blizz for reasons above. Being able to dodge every charge, even water pulse, is huge.

Plus, keep in mind that you're not giving up a ton of dmg. All out DPS no dodging is a 9% range for every oneof his move combos. Venus worst moveset does 91% ofthe dmg of his best.(as calculated by silph road team who founded/contributed to this site). So he really doesn't have a "bad" moveset. To put this in perspective most mons, like blastoise, charizard, dragonite, etc have 25%+ differences in dps.

In which case, pick the one that has the typing you want (grass vs vape) and then pick the one that matches your play style. If you prefer to dodge then PB without a doubt. If you never dodge and just care about time, SB
