Which 7 pokemon do you want Lucky if you could choose from all the generations?

Hello everyone, once I was very active here but when I turned level 40 the interest in the game became lesser and lesser. But a week ago i picked up where i left and yesterday Niantic came with some interesting news.

Backstory (question below):

Yesterday niantic posted that you get a guaranteed lucky pokemon when you have less than 10 lucky pokemon AND you trade a pokemon away that dates back to july or august 2016.

I have plenty of pokemon caught in that period. So, this basically means that I can trade any of my pokemon from that period and get a guaranteed lucky.

I have 7 lucky's to go before I reach 10 lucky's.

Long story short: Which 7 pokemon would you want to be lucky?
I have already one blissey, mewtwo, snorlax, two Gengar (with SC) and three Tyranitars at level 40, Kyogre, Groudon, Raikou,at near max level and a rayquaza at max.

You can list any pokemon of any generation in your top 7.

Thanks in advance :)

Blissey - best defender for all gens to come
Togepi - rare as fuck and will be the greates Champ counter I can imagine
Beldum - hard to get a good IV one, Meteor Mash very likely
SC Gengar - legacy set, guaranteed good Def and HP would be amazing
Shiny Kyogre - Kyogre will likely be untouched forever unless origin pulse will come out as raid day exclusive, shiny makes it special
Mewtu - not easy to obtain a good one, as the number of attempts is very limited for many people
Bodyslam-Snorlax - great defender too, although it has been available in field research, not everyone got a good one, actually most player I knew got shitty ones

My criteria were rarity, potential use and long term viability. Thus I didnt include such things as Groudon, Machamp or Raikou, although they are of high use. I may have forgotten some though of course.

thanks for the reaction, I will edit my post after this reaction. Beldum and Togepi are actually a very good mon that i did not think of. For the rest of the mons i have already a very high iv one and/or already one at level max level. Meteor mash Metagross will be a beast none the less!

Lucky doesn't change candy investment, but does floor IV. To that end, unless you're sitting on a RC bank, I wouldn't go with legendaries.

SD Ttar might be my first choice.

Good one, how many is adviseable? I have 3 max Tyra's but all with B/C. I have not played on Larvitar Comunity day...

Currently best rock attacker period, will likely be 2nd in TDO/DPS (ergo most balanced) after Gen IV. I would want at least 2.

Things like Frenzy Plant Venusaur or Blast Burn Charizard (where the CD move makes mon bestish class and the candy reasonably easy to get) would be my second choices.

Personally I would just go for whatever is otherwise the hardest to get lucky because I'm collecting the lucky dex, which pretty much means legendaries, but you might have different priorities. The stardust discount isn't that relevant to me either way and on pretty much any desirable pokemon, candy is more of an issue for most players.

I don't know enough about legendaries in the later generations but off the top of my head I'd probably take Rayquaza, Kyogre, Groudon, Dialga, Palkia, Zekrom, Reshiram and Kyurem. Mewtwo would be a priority otherwise but I have it already.

I dont think Gen 4 legis are worth considering for the OP, as he is looking for things to get lucky within this event.

Given Niantic's way of announcing things, it could go either way.

Even if it is permanent though, the guarantee is only for your first 10 lucky and only if you can find someone else with fewer than 10 lucky, so waiting for legends from later generations will mean not trading in the meantime and finding someone else (or yet another reason to start an alt) that isn't trading either.

Aside from the guarantee, odds of lucky are still higher with older pokemon though.

The other requirement is that the Pokemon was caught in July or August 2016, when only Gen 1 was available (and the game had not yet been released in many countries).

OP specifically mentioned that all 7 gens are open for discussion so that's why I included gen 4 and gen 5 legendaries. I don't think thinking that far ahead is a good idea, event or no, as they'll miss out on tons of candy from distance trading rares in the meantime, but maybe OP values their guaranteed luckies that much.

Shiny is one thing I'll consider, since this guaranteed to be lucky, hence you can guaranteed a shiny-lucky. Especially if it's a legendary.
Shiny dragonite (with DM even), shiny lugia, shiny zapdos, shiny tyranitar (with SD especially) comes to mind.
Another one should be for YOUR favorite legacy pokemon. I'll consider a shiny surfing pikachu for example. Or shiny blast burn charizard.
All 7 in my list would be a shiny though.

I absolutely love Magikarp and have a few thousand candy, so halving the dust required would make a 96+% worth maxing out.

I just recently maxed a 91% lucky shiny Gyarados. It's a beaut.

My 91% lucky shiny Magikarp was evolved, TM'd, and maxed before I left the trading screen.

I would only get one Lucky Legendary because the cost of Rare Candy is pretty high to.

I would love to have a lucky Chancy to max to 40 to troll gyms
I would also max a Poliwrath to counter Iron Tail/Fire Blast T-Tar
Slowbro for sure again to troll gyms
Clefable to help defend a gym I really want to keep
Definitely a lucky Muk
Lucky Magneton, Magmar, Rhydon, Electabuzz for gen 4

As it has already been said, candy is the limiting factor for legendaries. So in my opinion, lucky is a great way to power up more mons that would have done otherwise (or mons you would have never powered up otherwise) for species where candy is not an issue. Plus you already have the best legendaries maxed.

So, **IF** you can find people that would be willing to trade those pokemon for the old ones you have, my list (heavily inspired from attacker tier list, best attackers by type not legendary and personal experience) :
1- SD Tyranitar. 2-3 would be even better.
2- Machamp. 2-3 would be even better.
3- Dragonite (if you have the candy)
4- Gyarados
5- FP Venusaur or Exeggutor
6- Gengar (with SC if possible)
7- Gardevoir (if you have the candy)

Honorable mentions : Houndoom, Victreebel, Scyther, Pinsir, Cacturne, Alakazam, most eeveelutions, BB Charizard, Golem.
What about gen 4 anticipation? Rhydon, Electabuzz, Magmar, Magneton,

Metagross or Salamence or other could be nice but they are so rare that candy *is* an issue with them just like for legendaries.

EDIT: Oh, Barrelrider13 beat me with the gen 4 list ^^

It’s basically just your preference. I’d try to get lucky Pokémon who have legacy moves, like Shadow Claw Gengar, Dragon Claw Dragonite, etc. or Pokémon you know you’ll want to power up to max, like Mewtwo and future legendaries. I’d hold off on Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza, as they may get their signature moves at some point.

Others could prepare you for the future, like Togepi (Togekiss), Beldum (Meteor Mash Metagross), Torchic (Blast Burn Blaziken), etc.

Torchic nests so it's possible to force a lucky Torchic by just grinding, wouldn't advice that.

In the long run rare candy doesn't look like a strong a limiting factor. You can save it, you may trade long distance pokemon for spare legendary to get 3 candy, you can use silver pinap berry to catch legendaries... So, I wouldn't limit myself because of that.

1- Shiny Rayquaza
2- Shiny Gyarados
3- Mewtwo
4- Groudon with precipice blades
5- Kyogre with origin pulse
6- Rhyperior
7- Dialga

P.S. I don't know generations further than Gen 4.
