Where did Feebus walk status go?

I finally got enough of candies to evolve the Feebus and had some time ago done the 20K walk. When I went to evolve it, the walk tally was reset to zero. Anybody see this behavior? Does this mean that you can't "pre-walk" Feebus?

Mine still has the pre-walked distance. I haven’t evolved him and he’s not my buddy anymore.
Are you sure you are looking at the same Feebas you pre-walked?

PFP1 - I have a bad feeling about that. The walking is tied directly to the one Feebus and not to Feebus group? That may be the answer, but I should have been warned about nuking it if that be the case. Oh well, waste 20K that I could be using more productively.

Each Feebas needs to be walked individually. I walked one the whole 20km but switched to a better Feebas and had to walk another 20km. The first one is ready-to-go when I get the candy; meanwhile, a newly-hatched, never-buddied, Feebas shows 0 km.
