There are no such things as Larvitar nests. You'll find Larvitar in desert biome or places you found Geodude and Rhyhorn. Chikorita in grass biome or your local park. Totadile is near water like squirrtle. Onix should be the same as Larvitar in rock/desert biome.

I live in the city and I've seen plenty of Totodile, more than I saw Squirtles before.

The interesting thing is I found like 4 Larvitars at a local park today.. it was a Phanpy nest though

Isn't phanphy's evolution a rock type? It's been too long but that would make sense? The evolution is essentially this gens version of Rhydon.

Somehow I get the feeling it doesn't matter what country you are in.
I would suggest you use Silph atlas and look for yourself...but I suspect even that is too much like actually doing something for yourself, and putting in effort.
