There are a lot of (understandable) comments by people discussing the times the random number generator (RNG) has screwed them, but what's a time when RNGesus truly smiled upon you?
Mine: Finally evolved my first "A" moveset Dragonite, made it my buddy to start building up the candies to bring it to level 30 but then almost immediately hatched two 10k eggs: both Dratinis (with all their accompanying candies)!
Result = immediate level 30 Dragonite :D
I've had too many close calls.
Caught 100% exeggcute, then promptly hatched a 100% Squirtle
All three shiny magikarp I've caught made me tear up a little. #2 was the best because I found him right after the event ended.
Moved into a new apartment a little while back. Wild Snorlax. First encounter, 44%; 15atk. 11xx cp
Edit: even just now as I was thinking about wanting a bubble-strat team. Next three mons I catch have 14-16 cp, favorable IVs, and even type advantage.
Probably one of these two:
- My 3rd or 4th Magikarp of the water event was shiny, caught so early I didn't have any way of knowing they were going to be so rare. As I was catching it, I figured they were going to be everywhere like Santa hat Pikachu. I haven't seen one since, and don't live near many Magikarp.
- My one and only Dragonite (and I'm probably not getting another for at least another year) evolved with DT/H.
sat the last of my fellowship exams earlier this year. woke up at like 0500 in my hotel and there was a wild snorlax just outside only 65% but ZH/BS and then passed my exam.

but have had completely shit luck since
I got C/P (at the time, the undisputed best defensive moveset) when I evolved my 100% IV Exeggcute, and that was the moveset I was really hoping for, since I already had a solid attacking Exeggutor (ZH/SoB).
My only shiny Magikarp got DT/O when I evolved it.
I caught a 100% level 26 Dratini from inside my house a few weeks ago (I have a spawn point that generates a water pokemon hourly). We'll see how lucky I get with the moveset when I evolve it, but in any case, it will be a legitimately acquired 100% Dragonite.
1) Hatched a 100% Lapras with double ice moves during the easter event.
2) First 10km hatch after the release of Gen 2 was a 93% Larvitar.
3) Got the highest rated attack move set when I evolved a perfect Growlithe into Arcanine.
4) Found a shiny magikarp. Was only 53% and the Gyarados got Dragon Tail/Crunch for moves but, hey, I got one
It's hard to say, I've had some lucky hatches (including 5 snorlaxes, 3 of them in the last 2 weeks) and lucky catches (including my first dragonite, with DB/DC, just 3 weeks after starting the game).
But knowing now just how rare shinies are, RNG was probably kindest to me during the water event when I caught 3 shinykarp in 2 days... two of them now shiny gyarados (I may keep the third one unevolved, at least for now, because I have not seen another one since the event ended although I catch a good no. of magikarp).
I had lousy luck with machamp evolves, but my first evolve after gen 2 came out was C/DP. I saw a machop on the radar, ran across the street and struggled to keep the rain from getting my phone too wet for the last three candy I needed to get to 124.
Yesterday, I decided to go to the waterfront before heading home and hunt dratini. I found two, used pinab berries on them, and they didn't flee. This got me to 124 candy. I found I had a 97% IV dratini I'd hatched earlier. So, I evolved it. The move set turned out to be DT/O. This is my first dragonite with the top move set I got a 10K egg from a nearby pokestop, which hatched a dratini and gave me the candy to power up my new dragonite to level 25.
...I've probably used up my good luck, now. I will probably have to walk forever to get her maxed out.
