So, we're into Shedinja month in FRBs, we've had Gengar Raid day. (We got Lick instead of Shadow Claw, which is a good substitute, and the completely useless Psychic as a charged move. Well, I suppose Lick/Psychic could be good against Machamp, but the problem is that Lick/Shadow ball is better, even with Psychic being SE while Ghost attacks are normal against Machamp).

We're stuck with Giratina in raids until Nov 20. I suppose there's a possibility that we'll see Origin Forme at some point, maybe halfway through, to renew interest, but no guarantees. Origin Forme might end up being rare like shinies, and possibly an occasional reward, or possibly every fight, dunno, or possibly not come at all this time around.

November 10 gives us Cyndaquil's CD, but given that it's a virtual clone of Charizard without the flying type, not so earthshaking aside from the double dust for the event.

So, aside from that, what's next?

My idle speculation/hope for raids - 1 week of Groudon, with Shiny, then we get a month of Palkia, then 1 week of Rayquaza, with Shiny, and then a month of Dialga, to finish the Gen4 dragons. That splits Groudon away from Dialga (who is weak to Ground), and puts Dialga after Rayquaza (since Dialga is the Dragonkiller Dragon, not being weak to Dragon itself). I think this is likely because they like to do the best raids during the winter months, to keep people playing - same way we got Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza last winter (at least in the Northern Hemisphere, where most people in the world live, anyway - no disrespect to our Southern Hemisphere friends, who got to enjoy warm weather for those potent raids).

And what about December. Bagon CD? Ralts CD? Something crappy CD (Feebas, Trapinch, etc)? Suspect it has to be one of the three. Long shot Blissey CD? Long shot a Gen4 debut with a CD (okay, extremely long shot)? How about a December Raid day? Time to trot out the beasts again? Raikou will do well, but Entei is only fair, and Suicune is useless, unless they tweak something, like giving it Waterfall and Hydro Pump for RD, which might actually be not horrible (haven't done the math).

EDIT: And then there's the whole Let's Go Eevee/Pikachu crossover, and Meltan/Melmetal. I hope the video was being figurative when it said you needed lots of Meltan to evolve, and just meant candy. If we literally have to save 40 or so Meltan to evolve a Melmetal, the bag space will be a big challenge for me and many others.

Let the idle speculation begin.

They'd need to release groudon with precipice blades to even be able to compete with machamp against Dialga as without precipice blades, groudon needs clear weather to be even with machamp DPS wise, and even then, no one wuld spend hundred of RC to max level a Groudon for only even DPS in weather when machamp provided always consistent top 1 or 2 in DPS (So basically machamp beats groudon w/o PB in all scenarios practically speaking)

Dont think Ralts will get a CD unless they give it misty terrain, which they haven't given status moves to pokemon unless absolutely necessary like with slaking (and even at that it wouldn't elevate its relevance, nothing can compete with dragons weak to dragon type aside from very specific instances like ice on the double weak rayquaza and gengar and SB mewtwo agaisnt Giratina, machamp and fighting types handle dark a lot better than gardevoir can leaving gardevoir in the exact same spot at it is now, hard counter to double fighting set raid boss machampand part time gym speedbump) and Gallade being male locked with requiring a dawn stone I think safely excludes it (likely they will add ever special evolution item from gen 4 as they did the newly added ones for gen 2). I think Bagon or Trapinch are far more likely candidates, and if they're going to make a special item evolution pokemon CD, I think the 2 most likely ones would be either Togepi or Rhydon but not overly confident those would get them.

I think we can see beast raids days in the future, probably spark or soemthing for Raikou given what they did for zapdos, maybe a better fire move on Entei and literally anything would be unable to help suicune because its stats are defense oriented. but shiny release is better pass using motivation than anything

making Suicune Shiny is all the tweaking it needs to sell raid passes to the vast majority of players

I'm using passes for Shinx because I expect it won't appear in the wild, like Absol. I'd like one, preferably best IVs, don't care whether it's shiny or not.

And since it's better than Jolteon, and my electrics are awful, I'm raiding it, with free passes.

Luxray is a great electric type, but Magnazone and Electavire have pre-evolutions out now that are easier to get and get candy for, as well as out DPS'ing Luxray. I'd recommend going for those if you want a good electric type
Shinx is a 10k egg hatch pokemon, so I think its likely it will be in the wild eventually.

Yes, I'm working on those too, want a team of electrics. Also, when PvP comes out, a team of 4 Magnezone and 2 Gyarados should be able to take on a lot of stuff well. Already have one lucky Magnemite, and several level 15 Electabuzz with great IVs. Looking forward to getting to evolve them someday, ....

Something I'm kinda hoping is that during December, like last year, there could be Water and Ice types spawning everywhere, including Gen 4 Pokemon. However, though, if that's the case, I don't know what the special Pokemon could be, but even though they're not Christmas-themed, I do have a couple of guesses: Kecleon or Smeargle.

Shinys are always good incentive for raids. I say split december in half for groudon and rayquesa, maybe some special raids thrown in (delibird raids with double prizes).

No matter how you slice it ralts makes the most sense for the next CD regardless on if the move is a fairy type or even relevant. I'd like to see galade released with Some CD research tasks giving dawn and dusk stones since a few Pokemon use them in evolutions from here on out.

Raid days are a blast but I'd rather have them only for a good reason. With monthly changes for CDs and special research they are already running into corners on what would be good, hence all the speculation on our part. If RDs become a monthly thing then they will ultimately become stale too

I wouldn't say raid days would become stale as CD's havent gotten stale, and raids are a lot more engaging than just throwing pokeballs at pokemon for 3 hours.

Plus for things like legendaries you can get a months worth of them in the span of one afternoon, you dont need to worry about needing to power one good one up for use only to get a better one the next day.

Also we have gone longer without a raid day than without a Community Day - I would assume Gengar Day was a compromise with all the Shadow Vlaw speculation and the whining (yes, whining!) after Body Slam Snorlax.

Makes sense, though I hope niantic doesnt really do something like this again. I understand theres a difference between giving players something they want, and giving into whining. Niantic giving into things people whine about will only make people whine about wanting more things

Look at after TS Zapdos, there weren't any meta altering events for nearly 3 months aside from SA moltres which has largely a different effectiveness profile than double fire moltres, possibly due to that huge backlash making niantic have to start rethinking what they do

Up

I think SA Moltres has practically the same profile effectiveness as fire Moltres, except it exchanges Ice for Fighting and makes it waste a lot less energy, which is much more useful. SA Moltres was a big meta change for me, as I lacked any good fire mon, and it is an amazing “substitute”.

Moltres wasnt as good agaisnt ice types as entei was, its flying sub type make it take more damage, both have overlapping use agaisnt grass and bug, but those arent overly seen much in raids or gyms. SA moltres also isnt usable agaisnt steel types, yes the two have some overlap, but largely thay have distinct usages, SA moltres being a better counter to things like machamp in raids and double fire being better against things like piloswine (though entei is better, this is only a comparison of the 2 moltres sets) and steel types like registeel when it was out.

Actually, Moltres is still amazing vs icr types and much much better than entei. Just pick any ice raid boss in pokebattler and set to dps.

It is weak to ice, true but its already so far ahead that that just turns it into a glass cannon. Entei often falls behind Flareon and BB Charizard unless you bring a best friend. That man is all tdo. Could use a move boosting raid day.

Stale for Meta players, speed raiders and short manners defiantly ( the minority of players j ... collectors, dex competitors and shiny hunters ( the majority of player ) will always dig those events I don’t see them going away or being limited any time soon.

Right now, there's three things I'm hoping we'll see sooner rather than later, yet Niantic has been silent concerning all of them.

1. The CP rebalance. It's been weeks since it was initially released for all of 10mins and then reverted presumably due to the bug where all the Mons whose max health increased were missing hitpoints. That seems like it would have been an easy fix, and yet here we are. It almost makes me wonder if Niantic is doing further tinkering with it.

2. Introduction of new moves from Gen IV. There are a bunch of datamined moves added in with Gen IV, and yet none of them can currently be learned. Setting aside the unreleased Mons, even ones currently available to us can't learn the new moves (Kingler with Crab Hammer for instance). Unlike the new moves with Gen 2 and 3 which were immediately available when those Gens went live, these moves are still unavailable for some reason.

3. The long-awaited evolutions for the multitude of Mons from Gens 1-3. Rhyperior, Tangrowth, Togekiss, Electivire, Honchkrow, etc. None of them were available when Gen 4 went live and, so far, they haven't trickled out with the small release waves of new Gen 4 Mons. I had (incorrectly) assumed that we'd get evos that corresponded with the different release waves: Honchkrow, Mismageus, Weavile and company with the Halloween event, Yanmega with the bug event, and so forth. I'm hoping Niantic will give the new evos the green light soon.

As for Community Days, I would love to see a Ralts CD that lets us evolve into both Gardevoir and Gallade. Perhaps both of them could get a different special move.

I'm also hoping that Dialga and Palkia follow after Giratina. Given how underwhelming Giratina is in Go (including it's Origin form, assuming it has the same moves), the dragons would be a breath of fresh air in the raid scene.

I agree that's it's weird that we haven't seen new moves/ legacy moves with Gen 4. But Gen 3 didnt exactly have all that happen at launch. The ghosts came out well ahead of the starters and it wasn't until the starters two months later, that we got the change up.

I'd say that the release of gens 2 3 and 4 have been so different from each other that there really is no precedent.

Would love to have the option to increase my pokemon storage about now...

I think the old schedule of a gen every 8 months is out the window, and they are spending more time on 'new' content like CDs, Raid days, etc. The CP rebalance, PvP, and raising the level cap are also coming, but in their own sweet time. I also think that Niantic realizes that if they release all the gens too soon, the bar to entry for new players will be too high - learning all about the game (which is much more involved than it was when the old hands started playing), and getting powered up versions of several dozen top counters.

So things will continue to trickle out. Gen 4 might take 6 months to fully release, with other stuff happening in between waves of new pokemon. Personally, I like the format of having just a few new ones at a time, so I'm not overwhelmed with 60 new ones, and having short periods (4-14 days) where the new stuff is very common so we all can get them caught.

The problem I'm having is that I like to build excitement for what's next, that's part of the fun for me, and get ready for it. Right now, aside from Cyndaquil day and Meltan, I have no idea what's next and Niantic ain't spilling the beans. Do I power up my Rayquaza for Palkia, or my Machamps for Dialga? Do I focus on trading for Magnemite or Swinub or Rhyhorn, or something else altogether? And how do I anticipate the next bug so I can TM to Shadow Ball Mewtwo in the 20 minute window, or get Moltres instead of Shedinja as a FRB in the 10 minute window.

And don't get me started on pokemon storage. I'm a free player, but the pay players in my community are practically holding out $20 bills asking Niantic to take them for more storage.

Just a quick note that "tweaking" Suicune does nothing for its usefulness. With 180 base attack stat, WF/HP doesn't get its DPS to anywhere close to good enough. It's very tanky post rebalance and the hope of its usefulness lies in some bigger change that gives value to that tankiness.

But as people said, shiny makes it plenty interesting for RD.
