What's my fault?
Skip the next paragraph if you think it's too long.
Guys, I've been crying and complainting a lot for a while but whenever I complaint about anything, everyone disagrees. I want to know what I have said that was wrong. Ok, I take back my complaint against Sky Attack. But I don't understand what's wrong about the other things. Today, a guy just said that my gym rework ideas were terrible. But he didn't explain anything. I've complainted about Mareep being a Community Day Pokémon and everyone just says that I'm a screamer. Ok, I am a screamer but don't you understand why I'm screaming? Right now, I'm very obsessed. The game has become the opposite of the game I want. I know that I don't decide everything but all I wanted was A LITTLE BALANCE. I wanted the game to be MORE SOLID AND LESS SHINY. I don't want EVERYONE to have EVERYTHING. Could you please explain what's wrong about that?
Now, I want to know what you think about the game. Just answer these questions with explanation:
1. Do you think that the game is balanced? If not, do you think that the game should remain unbalanced?
2. Do you think that the current gym system is competetive, challenging or balanced? Do you think that Pokémon should get stuck in gyms? Do you think low CP Pokémon should have the advantage; so that trainers get rewarded for not fully powerring up their defender Pokémons? Should defending be all about wasting time?
3. Don't you think that almost everything in the game is pretty easy? If you do, do you think that it should stay this way?
4. Don't you think that there is no skill in the game, all you need to do is play more to have better stuff? If you do, do you think it should stay like this?
5. Do you think that the Pokémon who ruled the core games with their speed should be useless in Pokémon GO?
6. Do you think that Niantic is doing a good job with Pokémon GO? Do you think that they are not doing anything wrong? Don't you think Pokémon GO could have been much much better?
7. Do you think that EVERYONE should HAVE EVERYTHING and only the best Pokémon should ever be used? And only the most recent things should matter? Do you like Niantic to hand EVERYTHING over to EVERYONE?
8. Do you think that Pokémon GO is a perfect game and nothing needs to change?
If you agree with my points, that's fine. If you disagree, that's also fine. But if you just say that I'm wrong without explaining anything, that's fine. If you disagree, explain your points. Just don't use the memorized words like terrible, awful, pathetic without thinking anything. If I have said anything wrong, please explain. And forgive me for all the disturbance.
Answers
Well now...where to begin?
You answered most of your own questions with your own words. You're a complainer. You're a "screamer." Do you want to read anything like that? Why would you expect anyone else to? Also, you present your opinions as facts that need to be corrected in the game. Not as opinions.
You asked for it. Here it is...
Your opinion counts no more than anyone else's you know. You begin to lose credibility in the community when you break some cardinal rules.
1. Don't use all caps to emphasize your point. It's juvenile and it shows immaturity. Most people, myself included, who see all caps in anything assume it's someone who hasn't yet grasped the basic art of communication through writing.
2. All of your "questions" are just general opinions. "Do you think that EVERYONE should HAVE EVERYTHING?" That's not a question as much as it's someone complaining about a game, Very few people, in fact nobody I know (and I'm almost level 40) have "everything." You're taking an opinion, sensationalizing it, and then criticizing those who have worked hard to get everything.
3. Questions like, "Do you think Niantic is doing a good job with Pokemon Go?" are just trolling. If you need an answer then just look at the data. That's based on facts, not the opinions of a handful or people willing to go down that path with you.
Actually, this is a waste of time. You should be more self aware. If "everyone disagrees" with you then maybe you need to reconsider your point of view. Or at the very least your own capacity to ask a question in a manner that doesn't have everyone to discredit your opinion. If you have to apologize for your post at the end of the post, then that should tell you something.
Lastly, I'm not so sure asking the general public to tell you what's wrong with you and to explain it was the best course of action.
For me? I found your post abrasive, immature, and a text version of a child's temper tantrum. You should have read your post back to yourself before you posted it and then realized it should not have been posted. But oh well.
My advice, quit the game. It is without any doubt, not the game for you. I know I wouldn't play any game that I felt had failed on all the levels you feel it has.
I'll try to answer your questions but you really should heed the advice in the first few posts. Your attitude is not constructive and you're prone to presenting your own opinions as facts as well as acting immaturely.
1. The game is balanced pretty badly and a lot could and should be done to balance it better.
2. The game in my area is extremely competitive. There's a savage war going on with gym control as players are looking to accumulate more and more gold gyms. Defenders are powered to the max here.
3. I don't. Soloing Jolteon is not easy, soloing it without weatherboost is harder and soloing it without weatherboost with 6 unique pokemon is even harder. Accumulating millions of dust is likewise not easy.
4. There is definitely skill. The hardest solo challenges require their own skills and there's still a big difference between people who are knowledgeable about optimal counters and efficient ways of fighting gyms and those who are not.
5. I do not and it's one of the more glaring mistakes in the stat conversion formula. Would like for it to get fixed.
6. I don't think they're doing even nearly the best job but it's the developer we're stuck with so if you don't want to deal with Niantic, the only other option is quitting POGO.
7. Do you have everything? I don't think you do. I don't have everything either. Brandon Tan may have everything but he's probably the only player in the world who can claim that.
8. Have you ever seen someone claim this? Just because people call you out on some of your complaints or your way of presenting them being stupid (which some of them are), does not mean they are mindless Niantic shills who think there's nothing wrong in the game.
I honestly don't want to write much, because I think it'd be just too stressful, no one would read it anyways and Mooncusser pretty much said, what should be said - but I want to leave a "short" statement to your main point: "EVERYONE has EVERYTHING"
Many people out of my local community have a lot of troubles evolving the likes of Kabutops, Togetic, etc or even obtaining something like Liliep or Tangela (biome dependent), there are a lot of people who have quite some gaps in their dex - without Lugias return not even half of us would own one, now with it's return, almost everyone got it, but instead, the shiny is the rare thing now - and that's where I want to lead at. We have quite some shinys released so far, but I don't know a single
person - or even heard of - owning them all.
And then there's Mewtwo, the most exclusive Pokemon for the largest amount of time and still not particularly common, I own a 100% Mewtwo, how many people can tell that of their own? People even feel lucky with 82%+ and 15 Att - or the Dex entry at all.
This game is all about exclusivity. Even if you have quite some oppurtunities to complete your collection, you have to put a lot of effort into it and even then, the odds are low - and then, there are community days, the new essence of exclusivity, not related to species, but to moves, you want the best grass attacker in the game but had no time during March's CD? Well, you better stick to #2 instead. Trying to get a shiny Dratini outside of CD? Good luck.
I wrote way too much so far, so I'm gonna stop here, but let me ask you one last question... how many people do you know owning all of these?
I'm sorry for the confusion but when I said EVERYONE HAS EVERYTHING. I didn't mean literally, I meant figuratively. Like; you have rare Pokémon (Dragonite, Tyranitar), you have legendary Pokémon, you have optimal counters for everything (at least 6 Pokémon from each type except maybe Flying or Poison). So, even if you don't have a complete pokedex, you pretty much have all you need. And I really hated the fact that hardcore Pokémon like Ampharos is being handed over to everyone.
Not gonna bother with too much of an answer, but regarding the „everybody has everything“ part: so you want only a few privileged people to have all the good Pokemon and the other 95% of players frustrated because they know they‘ll never get them? Is that what you want? Does THAT sound balanced to you? I was happy about Dratini CD, because I had so far pretty much no luck with that. Stood at like 35-40 Dragon Pokemon before it, only one „good“ Dragonite, which was pretty annoying. Same with Mareep. I only have gotten 2 or 3 so far, whilst others have multiple Ampharos. So what exactly is your point? Niantic tries to give those players with barely any luck (like me for example) a chance to get good Pokemon, and there‘s nothing wrong with that.
Edit: Heck, that post became longer than expected
It's a mobile game, it's meant to be easy to get things so you easily and quickly get hooked. They have things like shinies and IVs to make the hardcore players have something to try and collect whilst keeping the gap between them and the average player relatively small. Because a player with a shiny Lugia has no real advantage over someone with a regular Lugia, but it means a lot to someone who wants to get everything in the game.
As for balancing and the game being perfect etc. I think almost everyone can agree this game has its fair share of issues. I think the game should have had at least another year or two of development before being released, but they knew full well pogo would be extremely lucrative and Nintendo definitely needed the extra cash at the time.
So no one thinks you're really at 'fault' for wanting changes, but constantly asking for them here in an overly dramatic fashion won't cause anything to change. Niantic has proven before that they usually ignore problems the community bring up, yet alone random posts on GamePress. The game is slowly getting better, and I'm sure they have plans to keep on improving. The weather update specifically gave me hope for the future of this game. An out of nowhere update which brought a really nice graphical and mechanical feature to the game and they didn't even hype it up. So if they can casually release things like that, I have hope that they will introduce other big features in the future, I think it's still definitely a possibility gyms will be changed or using lesser mons will be encourage in some way (already kind of happening with frenzy plant and Venusaur).
Lastly, your point about should "only the most recent things matter". I'm afraid that's just how these games work, why would you keep playing the game everyday if the newer thing wasn't better in some way? It's the catch 22 of online progression based games, and if you really can't deal with that then quit now or play it casually and enjoy it for what it is. I've played games like this before through their whole life cycle; you will be constantly chasing the next best thing until the game literally shuts down, luckily this game doesn't require you to have the 'best things' to perform well so just don't fall victim to it. It's how people get addicted to games like WoW or any addictive progression based game. You have a fear of missing out on anything new that comes out so you keep coming back, and if they don't update the game you get bored and don't spend any money.
Don't forget we're on Gen 3 out of 7 and possibly 8 by the end of this year, so don't worry too much and don't take the game too seriously. You were probably a Pokemon fan before Pogo like me and were probably extremely disappointed by the game like me, but you've got to just get over it to be frank, the game isn't for Pokemon fans, it's for everyone. Trust me, as someone who personally knows multiple people from my work who are over 40 years old and have no Idea what they're doing but still play the game the most and spend the most out of any of us, they need to keep the game simple lol.
1) Is the game Balanced?
Define "Balanced". From my perspective, the major place where it is unbalanced is in the Geography. As in, that it is designed - almost exclusively - to be played in a heavily urban environment. In places where you can see 6+ gyms at all times, where 80-90% of the geography is covered by a Pokestop range. This heavily tilts the favour of the game towards players who live in these area's, players who work in these areas or players who have reliable access to these areas. This is something that could be balanced by better in-game information about the surrounding area... which is the main point of 3rd party Maps for a large amount of players who use them. The IV scanners are a minor issue that Niantic should be able to easily fix simply by randomizing the Pokémon IV's when they spawn; we already seem to get different IV's if the Trainers are different levels - a Level 20 Trainer do not seem to get the same IV's as a Level 26+ trainer. (when my daughter's account was below level 30, every Pokémon we caught for her had different IV's than what I caught or what my wife caught. My wife and I had the same IV's every single time, same level, same CP, only the move set was different on a regular basis.) Randomizing it (even using the Niantic definition of Random) would eliminate IV scanning entirely.
2) Current gym system sucks. Old gym system sucked. Updated gym system is going to suck too. The Gym system in general sucks. The idea of a gym system is great in theory, but practically impossible to implement in any decent way.
3 and 4) No.
5) Don't care; never played any other Pokémon game, even the card games.
6) Meh. I'm not impressed with Niantic with Pokémon Go, but they seem to be getting better. Slowly. We'll see.
7 and 8) These are dumb questions. Whenever someone asks the question which includes "Do (subject) want EVERYTHING/to be PERFECT/to have NO CONCEQUENCES/etc." and "Is (X) Perfect/Flawless?", the question should not be taken seriously because it is a dumb question. The number of people who want "Everything" to be "given" to them in Pokémon Go could likely be counted using a single body part - three guesses as to which body part, and the first two don't count, Pinocchio. The only person who thinks that Pokémon Go is a perfect game - If you're reading this, Hi Dave! - also believes that Donald Trump is actually Hillary Clinton in disguise and that the televised "debates" were a Hollywood production (like the Moon Landing) designed to make America think that they actually had a choice in the election. Dave also is of the opinion that Blissey is the best counter to Machamp when Blissey has Dazzling Gleam and Zen Headbutt because in Pokemon Sun and Moon, Ash used a Blissey with Hyperbeam to defeat a Zapdos in 23 seconds. (People should listen to Dave more often - not AGREE with him, just listen to him. He's a fascinating case study in how someone can be certifiably insane and yet somehow still manage to navigate through modern society without actually causing injury to himself or anyone around him)
Very much my opinions as well.
"Geography" is the main game imbalance!
Second one in my opinion is the dependence on cars or other fast transportation for "competative" gaming. Be it raiding, gyming or (the non-Niantic-supported) hunting scanner spawns.
Usually games have a more equal "starting line" than that.
I kinda see what you mean and I agree with your thoughts on everything being given to you, the gym system, etc. But for the everything being too easy, this will most likely be fixed with the new quest system and the only part of the game that is too easy is the fact that everyone is getting a bunch of shinies during the community days and dratini for a community day pokemon. However, Niantic did this so everyone could have fun and enjoy their communities. With question 5, the game is pretty accurate with the pokemon that ruled the core games, however, they make all pokemon either super good, super bad, and very few in between. Question 8: No game is perfect no matter how good it is. Pokemon GO is an awesome game with an even better potential. Dude, you might as well just enjoy the game, these are your beliefs, however, your choice to enjoy the game is also your's.
For me it's more about the overreacting and rude style of writing. The way you write when you have a complaint protrays you as aggressive and immature, to the point where people don't know if you're trolling or just having an outburst, much like harrytipper and mr-EX. Expressing yourself like that makes people that disagree with your opinions intolerant and impatient what you have to say. We won't read an argument if it feels like a tantrum. Tantrums don't start discussions, they start conflict.
1. Do you think that the game is balanced?
No game is ever balanced period. The game is in a pretty good balance state however; infinitely better than the 6 Blissey gym strat.
2. Do you think that the current gym system is competetive, challenging or balanced?
They're overturned pretty fast, which honestly is probably for the best. While it's nice for the player to hold a gym forever and get free coins while looking cool, it's healthier that more people get more turns.
3. Don't you think that almost everything in the game is pretty easy?
The main series of Pokemon games, until you got to real competitive matches, we're talking tier lists and all that, everything was easy. First gen was a little hard I guess but it also had a ton of bugs, and it was mostly because you couldnt rematch trainers. The remakes were easy.
So I guess the "competitive" part of Poke'GO is the "this should be hard" part, the Gym system. And honestly that's probably right where it should be. It's accessible to most players, and preserving it for the 1% isn't a good idea for a game that's meant to attract players worldwide. This isn't say, WoW with raiding, where you have an infinite number of other things to do. But, you also can't just waltz into gyms with a level 10 Sunflora and expect to win. Wrong movesets get punished (we're talking ultra casual players here) and such. Lv 40s still have an advantage over lv 20s, but everyone can feel like they can participate even if they're at a disadvantage benefiting those who've put in more work. I think that's pretty good.
4. Don't you think that there is no skill in the game
This is basically a repeat of #3. But nah there's skill. "Granny shots" vs curve balls when it comes to catching the rares/legends. Not using your Fire Blast Groudon (which he shouldnt have as a move anyways) against a Milotic.
Also, dodging is a great way to express skill.
5. Do you think that the Pokémon who ruled the core games with their speed should be useless in Pokémon GO?
Speed is initiative from D&D. Literally same thing. Agile Pokemon, so to speak, tend to get faster attacks off in the game, more attacks per minute, and tend to be able to dodge more easily. I'd say the dodging part is one of the most underrated.
6. Do you think that Niantic is doing a good job with Pokémon GO? Do you think that they are not doing anything wrong? Don't you think Pokémon GO could have been much much better?
They've made a lot of mistakes, but it's understandable. They have a ton of pressure honestly, moreso than 99% of other mobile games.
They've fixed so much of it though and they really do listen to us, you can tell by the things they add when players complain. Gym rework, cool raid system, better tracking system (remember the old tracking system? New one blows it out of the water), more cool events (Community Days are amazing). Even adding cool stuff to new biomes via the weather system.
No one is perfect but I'd say they're really good at correcting things.
7. Do you think that EVERYONE should HAVE EVERYTHING and only the best Pokémon should ever be used? And only the most recent things should matter? Do you like Niantic to hand EVERYTHING over to EVERYONE?
Everyone should have the chance to get everything. A 1% catchrate on a Legendary, for instance, would feel terrible. Also, no, the best Pokemon aren't the only ones that matter.
I use Blaziken. It's one of my favorites. It's slightly worse than Machamp/Hariyama. But it's still serviceable and I still beat everything I need with it. I dont feel disadvantaged. New shiny Venusaur is amazing but still loses out to Kyogre, Groudon, etc. It's still perfectly usable. I used Flygon in Rayquaza raids (I have a lv 30 nearly perfect IV one that I caught from the wild) and it felt fine despite being a lower tier (and yeah I have Dragonite and such I just felt like trying it).
There's also more viable Pokemon than people think. Slowbro/king are actually super good defenders with the right movesets; Confusion is super good vs Fighting attackers and Blizzard towards Dragons, it resists Kyogre and is super counter meta. You dont see them in gyms very often. Clefable is really good for the same reasons, but while it doesnt resist Kyogre it's not vulnerable to Raikou/Zapdos. You dont see it in gyms either really. Tier 2/3 Pokemon are still fine to use.
8. Do you think that Pokémon GO is a perfect game and nothing needs to change?
Why complain when it is changing? They've added Community Days recently which is awesome and now they're adding a new Research mechanic.
1. Do you think that the game is balanced? If not, do you think that the game should remain unbalanced?
Somewhat balanced. Clearly some mon are stronger than others, like Kyogre vs. Shuckle. But there is some balance. Although, at this point, if it's raining, your maxed out Kyogre with Hydropump is probably a very good option, unless the foe resists water.
2. Do you think that the current gym system is competetive, challenging or balanced?
None of the above. Kinda dull. The purpose of the gym system is to allow a moderate amount of free coins to players willing to make some effort to get them. As a free player, it's the only way I get coins (although quests may change that). And it allows weaker players to get involved, unlike the old gym system that almost completely shut them out.
3. Don't you think that almost everything in the game is pretty easy?
No. Just did a 6 player raid against Lugia with HP. We failed. Didn't have quite enough power. Did two more with a few more people that went better. But not everything is automatic.
4. Don't you think that there is no skill in the game, all you need to do is play more to have better stuff?
No. Some of the players who play a lot still use the recommended pokemon in raids. It's amusing to watch a level 40 player throw in Aggron after aggron, and then complain they didn't get max damage balls.
5. Do you think that the Pokémon who ruled the core games with their speed should be useless in Pokémon GO?
No, but there currently isn't a way to incorporate speed into the game. Could be part of a future update.
6. Do you think that Niantic is doing a good job with Pokémon GO?
Fair. I'm still enjoying playing. It could be improved, but it could also be a lot worse.
7. Do you think that EVERYONE should HAVE EVERYTHING and only the best Pokémon should ever be used? And only the most recent things should matter?
Not thrilled with this state. Seems like there are the raid relevant pokemon, a few gym specialists (Blisschanlax), and then the garbage pokemon. Wish more of the garbage had a role to play. Maybe quests will remedy that.
8. Do you think that Pokémon GO is a perfect game and nothing needs to change?
No. No one does, not even Niantic. They are changing it all the time. But if you want to play a perfect game, well, you'll be sadly disappointed, cause there ain't one. The question is, do you like this game or not. If not, move on and spend your leisure time doing something you enjoy more.
