What the f@ck is the point of high CP?!

Over 3k CP mons lose motivation faster. Gym is easy as hell to take down. I use ONE 3500 CP dragonite to take down an entire gym solo so I don't even need to use the other 5 mons. Are high CP mons only good for attacking for raids? Is this what it boils down to? I try to stay positive about the new changes but I keep thinking about all the candies and dust wasted and I'm CONSERVATIVE on resources.

I'm probably considered Niantic's ideal customer. Spent roughly $1000 supporting free players. Catching mons is becoming almost a useless chore because what do I need more candies and dust for? Spinning stops seem to be more important. Now all I want to do is raids and get TMs and eventually legendaries. They better give me a legendary pass to make all this sh!t worth it. The meta has changed drastically.

New update changed whole game :)

My best blisseys 2980 and 2972 :)
Thou i only need 1 defender to collect max coins and all other defenders are now useless.
Edited: Thou i could use one Chansey as back up defender if someone has alrdy Blissey in gym.

But now i need attackers for raids and fast.
At least for raids that are much harder, dps wise.

I have three 3000+ CP Blissey's I painstakingly nurtured for months. They sit in the inventory collecting dust now. I put Blissey's in gyms that under 3000 CP which are lower IV and shit movesets - the reason why they didn't go over past 3k. And don't get me started on my Dragonite army that I have that are just now mostly unemployed.

My Blisseys are under 3k, because i never wanted their healt go above 400hp :D

I didnt like idea of revive + red potion + purple potion.
And i rlly need my my purple potions for my attackers.

And need my max revives for snorlaxes and chanseys

Lucky me :)

You don't want your pokemon to stay in a gym for over 8 hours, so having motivation dropping faster is better.

I would be lucky to last 8 hours in a gym in my area. The old gym was easy to take down. Now it's just ridiculously easy. Another reason why I focus on raids now which cost $$$. This game got very expensive real fast.

I'm saving candys and stardust expecting more changes in the gyms coming in the future. The way its now is confusing...Funny story: today, I placed a pokemon in a gym and a spoofer saved my daily coins, kicking my mon out of the gym close to midnight...

Haha. Spoofers are now heroes of level 4 raids. I went to a level 4 raid and there were only two people physically at the gym. We enter and 12 more trainers are in the lobby. We shrugged and said sweet.

When I saw ATLfsu in one of my raids in NYC I was like OK Great i can take it down faster.

Walked away with ×1 fast TM x2 charged TM 5 golden berries and 5 rare candies.

No fuks given. Thank you spoofers!!!

I take it you mean conservative strictly on game resources and not your personal resources. You've spent $1000 on this game?! Why?! Do you not hold any gyms with your over 3k mons? I really hope you're just rich and that's the kinda money you find in your couch cushions. Am I the only one who finds that number insane?

Yes conservative on in game resources. No, I'm not rich but $1000 in one year is less than $90 a month. This is my main hobby and I enjoy it.

Edit: I collected daily 100 coins all this year before the new gyms. But the cost of running 9 incubators at once outpaced daily coins rewarded.

What's wrong with spending money? Some of us, like rural players, have no choice or might as well not play this game.

However, I'm equally discouraged by the recent changes and will certainly spend much, much less $ than I have before.

BTW, game developers need some paying customers.

The meta has changed quite a bit. A while back I stopped battling gyms and started hunting high IV pokemon 90% IV or better, moveset didn't matter only IV. All others were transferred to the professor if they didn't have good IVs after being caught.

Now my meta is doing raids and getting TMs to get the perfect movesets on these high IV pokemon. So essentially all my defenders that were above 3000CP are now gym sweepers (I'm leveling up gym badges to get better items from spins) and raid battlers.

My gym defenders are now about 20 pokemon composed of weedle, caterpie, pidgey, bellsprout, majikarp and good old dunsparce :)

What ever your meta is you just have to find one that works for you. I found one that works for me in the meantime until they iron out the bugs

I am trying out Magicarp too! Isn't that great or what. Don't need to worry about potions or revive. One berry and you are good for a few coins.

always have kept my best IV version of a mon regardless of move set. Glad I did

I was able to run through a level 6 gym with a Rhydon Gary snorlax golem vapor and charizard with a throwaway sandslash

Don't know what to do with pokeballs revives potions or berries. I just spin and keep dumping them

Ouch :(

I feel particularly stupid. I had 3 at ~2950 each that I powered to just over 3000 as soon as they came back when the gyms were reset. I saw that Blissey wasn't getting nerfed with the new meta so thought it was safe, but didn't realize 3000 CP mons would drop so hard. They're fine for high-traffic areas... and teammates often feed them... but I still feel like I could have just saved that ~75k dust and 70 candy if I'd been a little more patient.

And this is why I kept telling trainers don't power anying up, don't max anything out, don't evolve anything don't do anything to your pokemon until after the gym rework because we don't know what they will change.

Now look where we are......Most of our pokemon....useless for gyms

Dude cp doesn't matter anymore just put in a random pokemon with random cp.
There was an ironic post before saying that he was glad he didn't throw away his prestigers as he used them for gym defenders now. That says it all...

I agree that high CP mons shouldn't be made to lose CP faster, at least not THAT much faster.

Players should be given incentive to hoard high CP mons for both defending gyms and attacking raid bosses.
