I'm just wondering what others buy using pokecoins. I'm trying to save for the 25 lucky eggs (1250 coins), which is proving to take a while (especially since I don't have many gyms in the area). Then, there are incubators to hatch multiple 10km eggs on the go. Are there other things I should consider buying? I haven't expanded the bag or storage yet.
Regularly, only incubators and lucky eggs. Those are what I class as "essential" purchases, the rest not so much.
I'm not opposed to spending real money for coins though, and as result I've maxed out my Pokemon storage space (a good chunk was bought when it was discounted) and up to 700 with items. I could probably live with less of either, but I'm a lazy hoarder.
There is a rumor/leak from a source that was accurate previously that starting on Jun 13th, there will be an event where Lucky Eggs will be 50% off (AGAIN) so don't buy that pack yet if you are looking to save for it. Saving 625 coins is a lot of coins.
I don't spend my coins on anything currently since you'd need too many incubators I feel to let RNG work in your favor with hatches (mostly to get rid of 5km or 2km eggs...). If you could return/toss eggs, then incubators constantly hatching 10km would be well worth it.
I also now only spend coins when there is a sale (maxed mon storage, bought the lucky egg pack previously even though I'm now sitting on 41 lucky eggs) since there is no need to rush anything at my level 36+ (edit: Rather, I am still trying to level ASAP, but you can only go so fast...without resorting to constant 9 incubators or constant lucky egg play or sitting and grinding at stops which I'd find too boring).
With the gym rework coming, I think it's wise to "Save your Pokecoins", especially for free to play players.
Depending on your level, I'd definitely try to level up faster and do 9 simultaneous hatches when using the "free" lucky eggs you get during level ups for evolving grinding, etc...
I would also max both storages, but you may want to wait for a sale first since saving 50% is a lot.
Getting rare double candies is more important to me so I would only buy 9 incubators during a double candy hatch event...The last one which gave 1-3 bonus candies I think was not worth it IMO to hatch all my 10kms.
Even though they may never do double candies from hatches, I'm extremely patient so I can wait either way.
Even though much nicer, not like getting a few more defenders now will change everything at this point for me.
