They need to release a new Pokedex exclusively for Pokémon Go, which comprises the very best Pokémon of Gens 2-6.

Nobody will be playing in the later stages to enjoy Gen 4, 5, 6 anyway, so why not give us them now, when there are actually people playing the game?

Gen 7 from Sun and Moon can be released in special events at any time of the year, as well as legendaries every month.

So basically killing the game off now, when it has the potential to have new content for the next few years?

Yeah thats crazy talk. People would be so confused with that many mons they might quit. I just think there has to be a middle ground. One generation per year is just too long even if its done piecemeal. I feel like a generation every 6-9 months would keep us interested without overdoing it.

Another small event for carneval to keep hardcore- (winter-) players in good mood (maybe some masked pokemon + something with ressources reduction), and then, with easter, the release of gen 2. So spring can come and there coud be a revive for pokemon go with some players coming back and trying to fill pokedex again.

So when would you expect Gen 6? Summer 2022?

You won't be playing the game in 2022.

  1. New Pokemon is Never Enough.
Still remember your first Ditto? How about your 2nd, 3rd, ...? Ditto only gives us the excitement for maybe a week or so.
Gen 2 babies? Not shifting the meta at all. The only reason you see them in gyms is that whoever put them is showing off.
Meta-shifting new mons? Yes, it will give players more incentive to hunt for them. Then after a month, Tyranitar will be the new Dragonite/Snorlax - gyms will be full of them.
Shiny ones? How does that differ from 100iv, perfect move set mons in nature?
So, no matter how many new mons they will be introducing, in the end gyms will just be full of the strongest one, and we'll get bored.
  2. Creative Way to Release Legendaries
It'll be disappointing that Mewtwo as well as other legendaries spawn like Pidgey in the wild, or in other words, behave like Normal Class Pokemon. There must be special events for catching them (as shown in the trailer).
But again, these are also one-off events - once you have it, you lose the excitement quickly!
  3. New Features Are the Key in Long Term
This is the area where Niantic should really focus on. 1)Interaction:
I'm talking about Trading, PVP, and other In-game player Interaction functions. Currently players can only interact with each other through gyms - we need to read others' mind by interpreting what mons they're putting? I just can't think of any other online game with such limited in-game player interaction!
Personally, I look forward to PVP most.
    2) Male & Female & Eggs:
    Yes. I want Lapras eggs.
    3) Customization:
Give a mon moves other than its default move pool, by implementing TM or HM as in the main series.
Give a mon customs, not just a stupid santa hat version.
    4) Tournament System (other than Battle):
Like Pokémon Contests, Dancing (just made that up), ...Not every Pokemon is meant for violence. Why send babies to battle?
    5) Team Specialty
When we chose which team to join, each Team leader said about their research focus:
Yellow (Instinct) for "..the secret to their intuition is related to how they're hatched"
Blue (Mystic) for "..why it is that they evolve"
Red (Valor) for "..enhance Pokemon's natural power in the pursuit of true strength"
So different team could get different Team-dependent strength!

=====
With all said, I do know that we're getting this feature in the next update:

Minor text fixes.

More Pokémon is not the answer, at least not long term, certainly not a patchwork pokedex.

There are four things that should happen:

Greater customization/personalization of your mon, the premise of the franchise is that we are monster trainers, we should be able to affect moves and other characteristics.

Trading

Trainer vs Trainer

Gameplay needs to be changed, it needs to be more complex. Remove the perception of ideal move sets, the move pool should be increased so that different move sets have value. Add effects, like poison moves adding additional damage for a period of time and how ghost types take zero damage from normal moves, etc

I don't think having type immunity = 0x multiplier would be good when you can't change a pokemon's move except by evolving it. That said, type effectiveness should be more significant than it is, as it stands STAB is too big relative to type considerations.

I'd say the Gen 1 to Gen 2 evolutions would be the next logical step, so hopefully Niantic will drop those within February/March, and don't forget they could be (finally) working on the release of Legendaries too. Maybe we'll have specific events for them sometime in the next months. Then, with spring, they'll probably give us the rest of Gen 2 - so around March/April.

If they manage to stick to this prediction, I'd be pretty okay with it.

I'd also really like shinies and PvP to drop soon.

It would be nice if they add mini games so that we can play with our pokemon without going to the gyms.

I posted my answer to this question here (where it was sort of unasked for): https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/q-a/does-niantic-gamepress ().

TM's would go a long way to freeing up what Pokemon we could use (and so would making type coverage more consequential in battle than STAB, but that's a simple formula change, not a simple addition). Hold items would be fun too, as would abilities.

A "static" third move would also be a good deal, as would a move that would be used performed not by completing a generic action across a screen, but by pressing an exclusive button.

They could also maybe make it so that legendary pokemon could somehow be "materialized" at gyms under a trainer's control--perhaps the highest CP gym in each state could have Mewtwo register either under the gym's control or in the control of its opponents.

I know it's not what you mean, but if a Pokemon is caught with no hold item and it had a healing item or ball(s) in its place it would really throw rural players a bone as well. Just had to add that, been something I've wanted for quite awhile.

Would give some incentive to go for something other than pidgeys and ultra rares. The inbetweens wouldn't be so bad.

Well with Easter in April I could see a themed event of special eggs (100K legendary? Increased drop rate of 10K eggs? introduce some new pokemon in eggs?) - that would be enough for me to spend coins on incubators and walk like crazy!

Good point. I should be patient and keep my free and discounted incubators until easter.

How about we let this event finish up first? There are still a few days left...
