what is the best CP range for training?

Assuming that attacker have type advantage and decent move set (A or B grade) what is the ideal CP range for training against 1500, 2000 and 2500 CP pokemon ? (i.e to make sure that defender will be defeated with single pokemon and prestige gain will be optimum )
