From Whale to F2P
Looks like this game is designed for urban players and cheaters. I know that nobody from Niantic is reading, but you're losing a "whale" as of today.
As many of you know, I've built up my account to level 36 by mainly using my own money to purchase incubators and constantly hatching. This method suited me well and I was able to build a great team of defenders/attackers.
Then the gym change happened and I pretty much don't bother with them anymore. Unfortunately for me I do my jogging in the morning, when Raids aren't even active. If I did get a chance to sneak out and do a raid, level 4's weren't an option because nobody else was around to join in with me.
BUT STILL, it was no problem for me because I already had an army of those pokemon in my dex through hatching and grinding.
Now that the only way to get a legendary is to do a level 5 raid, I don't see the point in paying for incubators anymore. My pokedex is full minus the legendary birds and I wont be able to get them through hatching eggs.
I'm not giving up on the game, just not spending money on it anymore. I'll still be jogging in the morning and hatching eggs with my one free incubator. If Niantic adds legendaries into the 10k egg pool (or heck, make a 20k egg... I don't care. I'll be jogging anyway!) then it's back to game on for me.
How many of you will be doing the same?

I'm in a city, so I could troll around to 10 raids a day. I got lucky with my 1 raid today and I'm satisfied with it, before that I missed on 4 Tyranitar raid catches, I got 1. I've heard of some of my city's players going 0/10 on bonus catches today.
I added up how much I've spent after the raid buff debacle a few days ago, I've spent $133 and also bought a $32 go plus. I'm not going to spend anything close to that going forward. I haven't bought an incubator this month, before I would buy them to clear out eggs trying for more 10km. Another reason, I don't want to spend considerable money to be the strongest player, if some of the novices want to advance, I'd rather them play it more the old way
I'm not in a rural area. I live in North Austin, TX. With no traffic I could be in downtown/university within 20 minutes. But I'm married, have a job and a toddler, so that's not really doable.
I used to take down gyms all the time in my area (there are 4 on my trail.)
So the reason I was playing was to catch them all.
