One day I woke up pretty early (5am), and while I was having breakfast I saw a Chansey on the nearby, it was raining but I ran around my hole neighborhood to try to find it, after 10 minutes of chasing I went back home all wet and frustrated, it was not on the nearby any more so I gave up, but while I was getting home it spawned on the left corner of my house while I went to the other side trying to get it on the first time lol (it only was 150cp but only had seen Chansey once so I end up pretty happy to catch it)
Weirdest thing you have done for a catch?
Last night I was laying in bed at 12 and my friend sends me a pic of a dragonite in my neighboring area. Now know that I have never see a one let alone a dratini really. I think I have 30 dratini candies... But anyways I have pretty strict parents despite the very safe neighborhood but I ran out to go get the dragonite (and a very rare for my area machop) in my pjs and a jacket. I didn't lucky egg it but it was a poor iv low cp. Never seen any type of dragon in the area, so I felt I just had to go get it.
Anyways I just wanted to know what the craziest run or thing you have done to get a certain Pokémon that ended up being powerful or sucky?

I was in my grandparents village (really small village), where there's no PokeStops or Gyms, and suddenly I saw a Dragonite in the sightings... I'm lvl 30 with no more than 30 dratini candys, and this was the first time I saw a Dragonite. I spent 25 minutes looking for it, running from one place to another, trying to find him, and I DID! I had to run into the mountain, 50~ meters away from the roads, Low IVs and bad Movesets, but still a Dragonite :D
My friend sent me message in facebook:
"got snorlax moment ago from gym near my house"
I sent him back - "when?"
And i didnt wait few min for reply
Just got my clothes and started running for his house and hope it is 60min timer for snorlax.
Almost 25min of hard running and feeling like im gona die, tasting blood in my mouth, but no snorlax anymore.
I walk home and turn my screen on only to see answer
"got it 30mins ago"
LOOOOOOOOOOL, all running for nothing lol
I live in a rural area; back in August I saw a snorlax around me while I was driving to a local park/hill where I grind in Go. I saw it nearby, so I pulled into a nearby church parking lot and then ran around for about 5-7 minutes, and no luck. I opened the app Ingress and saw that the only data usage spot near me was a house, with two driveways (one on each side) that led to parallel roads. I figured it had to be there. I was eyeing up to run across the yard from the road I was on to the other side, in hopes that it would spawn, and then I saw one of the people that lived their. I pretended to keep walking and slowly went out of sight, snuck back, and then sprinted across the lawn and halfway through it spawned!
I clicked on it, continued to sprint, and when I was out of sight I caught it. At the time it was 602 cp, 91% IVs, body slam + zen headbutt. I was certainly happy as you can imagine.
I once waded into the ocean soaking my shorts for a dratini, ran frantically with my friend through some questionable alleys for a Snorlax, and have hopped countless fences to get to the abundance of charmanders and bulbasaurs that spawn in the gated communities surrounding my house. Sorry for not listening to the "no trespassing" warnings Niantic :p
My most annoying catch was probably for my 2nd to last Pokemon for the pokedex...a ghastly. Well, I needed the ghastly for the Gengar. I literally zipped around two neighborhoods looking for it as it was on the nearby tracker. After a good 15 minutes (it must have been close to despawning) I decided to slow down my pace. That was it. I was speeding around so fast that I never allowed it a moment to pop up on my screen. I finally caught it and evolved my Gengar right there. Great feeling!
The punchline is that this was maybe the 2nd week in October. Shortly after the epic 3 month quest to acquire enough ghastly to make a gengar the Halloween event happened. At the end I had about 25 Gengars...some through evolves and others through catching them. It was bittersweet, but at least I have a high IV/premium movset Gengar now.
The one Lapras I caught in the wild was at a large waterfront state park famous for rare pokemon. There was easily over 1000 people there. About 11:30 at night someone cried out, "LAPRAS!" and it was as if a stampede of buffalo erupted. All these people started sprinting towards the cry. I joined the fray. It was pitch black except for the random blueish glow of everyone's cell phones illuminating faces as they pumped their arms in a sprint/run/jog. You knew you were close because there was a hoard of people all standing still, breathing heavy, either super excited that they caught it, or pissed that it ran away (I caught it...455 cp or something..ugh). But what a blast. That same night the same scenario played out for a porygon. and then around 1:00am for a Muk.
I ended up leaving the park around 3:00am (the crowd was maybe 200 at this point...far from where it was, but still a LOT of people for 3 in the morning) and made the drive home.
I've been back there twice. I missed 3 Snorlax while there, but did manage to rare moment where Snorlax were popping up in my neighborhood for about 3 weeks. I now have 7.
Fun times!
Got a text from a friend saying Snorlax at Starbucks.
Problem is he told me the wrong Starbucks. Texting back and forth he's like I still see it on the Nearby.
I was like where are you? He's like stuck in Xmas line at Walmarts.
Well Walmarts was about 2 miles away, and it dawned on me there had to be another Starbucks as that was too far for the Nearby.
Sure as heck, there was. Caught the Snorlax
The irony is by the time he got out of Walmarts and over to Starbucks it was gone.
