So, I don't have AR enabled (and can't even see where I would), however whenever I go to catch a pokemon, it treats me as if I am, with the half second of zooming around the grass to find the pokemon.

Additionally, when turning in a task that has a pokemon attached to it, it opens up and then I can't do anything. The pokemon is moving around, but I can't do the balls, open items, run away, anything. I can restart, and then do the fight just fine, just not the first time.

Any thoughts? This started after the update yesterday, and I'm on an iphone 7, with all updates up-to-date.

I'm on iPhone and had the same problem. A suggestion I read and seemed to solve it for me: Turn on camera permissions in iPhone settings > Pokemon Go.

Must be some sort of change in how research encounters start in how it is asking if it is should be going into AR mode or not. I still have AR turned off in game, but having camera permission allows it to continue without freezing.
