A way too early should I power up this lucky pokemon question...

I'm asking this mainly because I did my first solo Donphan raid today and it didn't go well, not to mention it was against an EQ one. I started out well against the clock with my level 30 Kyrogre, level 40 Gyarados, and level 34 Eggy. The issue I started to fall way behind after that. I simply had to make dodges against EQ because I fell behind after those 3.

Grass has always been a weak point. My best Venusaur is level 31 10/15/14, but unfortunately it has petal blizzard. I was not able to do Bulbasaur community day, so I have one sole FP Venusaur...7/6/14. My only other high level grass type is Sceptile level 35 4/15/6.

Enter Lucky Alolan Eggy. She is level 21 12/12/10...obviously not the stats I was hoping for. So the question is, with that lower cost, so I turn my focus to this Eggy?

Notes: I am currently working on a Gyarados. I have no charge TMs and no rare candies, so the obvious solution of powering up Kyrogre isn't an options. As always, opinions are greatly appreciated.

Has it been sunny? I have an equal stardust issue as you and no rare candy, but 500+ candies is enough to evolve any 900cp Exeggcutes you see. I'm up to 1200 candy since it is sunny about half the time.

I got 9 luckies in the first day. 3 Machamps, level 20 Alakazam, 2083 SP Gengar, level 22 Ttar. Put some into Machamp and Ttar but just to not forget about them (to level 25). I have a bit more leeway since some activity reporting lower raids on our chat, but for a while I’m gonna catch and build stardust more than raid

Is it sunny ?, i use this for sunny, Earthquake also. Only 4 used. Need to get a substitiute for Venu FP for you, it is the MVP
Grass is preferable at sunny weather, that Breelom is wild catch then evolve, lv 35 with bad IV, fainted fast, but give enough damage
Maybe you can put your gyarados at last spot ?

Earthquake should be easy. Play rough is tougher.

Waiting is the best idea, especially with a new feature. 21 hours in and I have 16 lucky pokemon. You're going to get one bigger and better than that one, pokemon being new doesn't prevent them from getting lucky. Just throw things into the fan and against the wall.

Donphan is too bulky to clear with anything but kyogres.
If its sunny you can pull it off with some strong exegg's.
So if its sunny=strong exegg and your best kyogre.
Without sunny= youll need 4-5 kyogres lvl 30+

Actually, you're wrong. Successfully did a heavy slam one with a level 30 Kyrogre, level 40 Gyarados, my level 28.5 Gyarados and my Eggy. I just needed to hit that next breakpoint with Gyarados.

Yep, you don't need all Kyogres in neutral weather, 1 30+ Kyogre & high level Gary's will do it, albeit with less than 10 seconds left.
