I also did not hesitate to give my L30 Bite/HP Gyarados a Fast TM. My other Bite/HP Gyarados is L22; considering whether to power him up.

This is one thing the Safest Bets article got wrong. Vaporeon is now outclassed as a Water-type attacker, not by a Gen 3 species, but by Gyarados!

I'm still going to find plenty of uses for my AT Vaporeon. No regrets about investing in that. (I've always liked using AT.)

Vaporeon has still some use (e.g. double rock Golem) and in my case I have 5 strong (91%+ lvl 35.5+) Vaporeons, while I have only 1 Gyarados with WF/HP at that lvl with good IVs and 3 others with good IVs that need some investment to come close to/surpass my Vaporeons.
