Venusaur Attacking Moveset: Petal Blizzard vs Solar Beam

Because solar beam deals a lot more damage and both are one bar moves.

Because when you look at Damage Per Energy

180 Damage SB > 110 Damage PB for same 100 energy

because solar beam is 2 stronk

I have same pokes with same CP and same IV but different moves.
Its Vilepume.
1. RL + PB
2. RL + SB

In my observation while testing them in the same defender... I noticed #2. deal a lot of damage...
So Solar Beam is a must higher than Petal Blizzard..

PB has a higher DPS because it is a very quick move, it's duration is very short, thus all the damage is delivered quickly. But in terms of raw damage from the attack, SoB does much more 180, compared to 110, so they aren't really in the same ballpark.

In fact, it is hard to compare charged moves with one glance. Even with some simplifications (ignore dodging, ignore energy gaint by damage received), it remains non trivial. My by now best metrics to do so is "time adjusted Damage per Energy", refining Damage per Energy and taking into account, that quick move deals no damage and gathers no energy while waiting for charged moves cooldown. It assumes an average 10dps-10eps-quickmove.

taDpE := (Damage - 10 * time) / (Energy + 10 * time)
taDpE Solar Beam = 0,879 (highest in Game)
taDpE Petal Blizzard =0,666 (just average)

By this metrics, Solar Beam is clearly better.
