Venusaur Attacker

It took me a while to get my first good Bulbasaur (lvl 20, 15 13 15 stats). I now evolved it into Venusaur and got Razorleaf and Solarbeam. I see its A rated but i was wondering if the Vine Whip would be the preferred quick move on offense, before powering this mon up to at least lvl 25.

As I understand it RL does a bit more damage. However VW is faster and even gains energy faster. VW also allows for better dodging because of the speed. I don't use my RL version so perhaps someone who does could provide a better insight.

Beats a blissey (2300-3000) with about 15 seconds to spare. And Rhydon becomes no problem at all.

I loathe Razor Leaf on sheer principle. Despite living in a dense Grass biome and evolving or catching dozens of Venusaur, Meganium, and Tangela, I haven't gotten a SINGLE, SOLITARY VW/SoB combo. Not one. Razor Leaf can go straight to hell.

Not sure if I'm as passionate as the above commenter, but I can't get a VW/SB either and I very much prefer it over razor leaf. I can dodge so much better with it. Take him to 25? Yes. Any further I would wait and see about another one.

The Gen2 move update nerfed Razor Leaf a bit for defense, but that also made it a bit faster and better on offense. Still though, Vine Whip is my preferred attacking grass move.

I have both and VW is definitely better. If you have the candy, it is worth trying to evolve another, but the RL won't hurt you

I have a VW/SB (at a pitiful 42 IV) and a RL/SB (91 IV). I would say I prefer the VW more, but I use both. Against Rhydon you can nuke them with Solar beam regardless, that is the key move you want (instead of sludge bomb or Petal blizzard which are completely useless). Quick moves need not matter too much as RL is not THAT slow.
