Use for Regirock?

How does it compare to the Top 3 rock attackers? (Omastar, Golem, Tyranitar) Does pure rock typing offer any advantages?

It's trash. It's attack is just too low to be a viable attacker. You could use it to take down gyms, but as far as raids go, it has no place.

Agree. It would be a wonderful gym defender with that high defense, if you were allowed to put it in a gym. Now, if they change that rule, or allow the trainer who takes down the gym to put a legendary in the last spot in the gym, and others fill in slots 1-5, then it would have some value.

On the attack, maybe a gym sweeper, but double rock Ttar does it better, with good attack, if a bit less bulk.

Slight upgrade on Steelix, but with fewer resistances and only single-bar charge moves.

Agreed. Before rock Tyranitar, it would've been an ok TDO option for Golem. Which wasn't really even relevant because tanks are so rarely needed.

Sadly, the Regis have their main selling point (being bulky as Hell) almost completely negated by being locked out of gyms. If Niantic changed this rule, all 3 of them (even Registeel, to a lesser extent) would make for solid defenders.

In a raid-based meta where DPS is king, the Regis have a tough time finding a place. Personally, I think the main appeal for Regirock and Regice is as potion-efficient gym attackers. Registeel needs a buff though, otherwise it is just a worse Steelix.
