Untouchable level 10 gym due to gym error
We have a gym in my city that has been untouched for almost 3 months due to it always giving a gym error to anyone who tries to attack it. The gym currently rests at lvl 10 with 50 000 prestige and a 1925 Gyarados at the bottom, which has been unchanged every time I have checked its roster.
It's located in a very busy square and it's unthinkable that nobody would be able to at beat at least one of its defenders. I would imagine hundreds of people must have tried to attack it by now, as there were several people standing around, muttering "error..." when I last visited it.
Does anyone know what to do with these gyms? I reported the gym to Niantic via their support system one month ago, and I know others have done the same. Still, it stands indomitable at such busy square a full month later, despite being the only lvl 10 gym in the area. Does anyone have similar experiences? Have you succeeded in attacking it/reporting it? Please share your stories.

Thanks for your suggestions. I didn't try the GPS trick, but I did try to run the suggested lineup. The annoying thing was, when I got the bug, I would also get a network error which prevented me from even catching nearby pokemon. I tried to log out and log back in, but got a login error upon trying to log back in. After being locked out of my account for more than 5 minutes, I was able to log back in. The gym still gave me an error, and my friend wasn't even able to log back into his account until after we'd left the area.
I suspect this gym has caused some issues for a lot of players in the area and I'm frankly surprised Niantic doesn't seem to have handled the support tickets that were sent in regarding this gym.
Yes there was a similar gym in a soccer field here for quite awhile. It was eventually fixed, I personally never reported it. Not sure how long it was stuck but it was a couple of weeks at least.
It was back when the prestige was at half and I noticed my poke was in there incredibly long for being in a busy weekend/school area. I couldn't even check to see what else was in. Screen would just jump back out.
I hope that this gym will be fixed eventually as it seems rather unfair to let some players claim rewards for keeping a gym that is untouchable to other players. Glad to hear they sorted yours out.
The gym occurs directly upon encountering the first pokemon in the gym, similar to the 10 minute GPS softban error you get when your GPS drifts off during a gym battle. As this gym caused follow-up network and login issues for several players, however, I sadly don't think it's that simple in this case.
There is a gym near me that does the same thing. Every time I go to battle it, I get a network error. After that, every pokemon I tap on disappears. Toggling airplane mode (getting new IP address) fixes this, but I still cannot battle the gym. The gym has been this way for a long time. it is stuck at 7901 prestige. Also I am in a level 10 gym that has not been brought down in a very long time. I believe the same thing happened to this gym. Unfortunately this is small potatoes for Niantic.
I can across a lv 10 valor gym that I wanted to be included in because the lowest cp pokemon was 1300 and it has been like that for months. I made another account and eventually on the way back home I tried to take it down to lv 9 but instead got an error. This error prevented me from clicking on the gym or any pokestop until I restarted. I then tried to see if training did the same thing and it does. It genuinely sucks because I wasted my time but now it makes sense why it has stayed like that for so long.
I know 2 gyms in that situation, one near home and other near my workplace. The one next to my home is level 4 with mons CP ranging from 1000 to 1800, i get an Error when i was going to battle and a Network error when i leave the gym, i need to restart the app to get back playing, and the gym still there untouchble for about 2 months. Same thing with the other, but this other is level 7, has stronger mons, but is in the most full place of my city wich have 7 million people.
