Unown in the wild?

Has anyone caught, or even encountered, an unown, WITHOUT using a 3rd party tracker or social media crowd sourcing like Facebook groups or rare mon notification system? I'm not judging whether those methods are right or wrong; I just have never tried them and don't intend to do so. I feel like my odds of catching unown without assistance are roughly equal to the odds of catching a mythical bird, essentially so close to zero that it may as well be zero. Am I wrong?

Found one by chance when doing a pokestop run along the river downtown in Minneapolis.

I was making the unfounded assumption that 0.0000000000000000000000001%=0, and hoping to be proven wrong. Just curious what the community experience was. So far, I have one person responding, and 1≠0. Hooray!

I did! I had just gone to bed, opened the game and saw the unown shadow on sightings. My heartbeat increased and I knew what I had to do. Dressed up as quick as possible and went out and caught it!!!
I'm certain that it was my luckiest moment in PoGo,

Got one at a gas station when I pulled out my phone pumping gas. This was also in Minnesota...weird.

So according to the small sample size in this thread, Unown are only available in Minnesota.

I'm expecting an art or reading related event at some point where Unown have a crazy increased spawn rate.

Caught 1 in my daughter's acct. Accidently used a pinap on hers and caught it. Used a razz on mine and it ran. She was level 29, I was 35 . Southern Indiana. Just across river from Louisville KY.

I have only seen one in a gym...and it ruined my dex.

Yea this is actually the last mon I need to complete the gen 1 and gen 2 dex (aside from regionals). I finally got ampharos yesterday when I caught one Mareep and two flaffys in the span of 15 minutes at my national park. Try your national parks guys (if in the US), they consistently have every kind of mon.

I made a post here a few months ago when I caught one (unassisted by anything like a tracker, rare mon notifier, crowd sourcing, etc,) in Camp Hill, PA, purely by accident.
