Tyranitar with Bite/Stone Edge, worth powering up?

I just evolved my first Tyranitar today, it's 91% IVs, but came with Bite an Stone Edge, literally the worst defensive moveset. Do you think it's worth powering it up?
Larvitars are really rare here, only cought 2 in the wild (hatched other 3 and walked for more than 170km for candies), so for this I'd need to keep walking with it.

That's really unfortunate, sorry to hear. Transfer it and wait for a better one. Good luck!

Yes. It's his best attacking set, and one of the best combos powered by the strongest pokemon. You'll be okay, lol.

I know it's the best attacking moveset, but for an attacker I don't need to power it up, it's already above 2000cp, so pretty useful as is.
The point is, is it worth to power up to put it on gyms?

See Tyranitar section on the site. Come to your own conclusion. My answer is no though.

I get the feeling this is an April Fool's joke, but I'll post a serious reply anyway. Being more than double weak to fighting types (fighting attacks are double effective, and fighting types resist most Tyranitar attacks) and weak to Vaporeon , Tyranitar is not a strong defender. Instead it's strength lies in having the highest CP in the game, which lets it sit at the top of gyms above stronger defenders, like Blisseys. No attacker is going to take down 7+ levels of the gym, going through multiple Blisseys, then decide to stop because they see your Tyranitar has IT/C instead of B/SE. Instead they might use one fewer regular potion to heal up or similar (assuming they aren't healing with hyper/max). So moveset doesn't really matter for a high CP Tyranitar defender, but IV and potential for high CP does, and your 91% likely does this well.

Where moveset does matter is as an attacker, and B/SE is the by far the best moveset for attacking, especially if you dodge. One could make a case for a B/SE Tyranitar being the best overall attacker in the game. It is especially useful against the 2 toughest defenders -- Blissey and Snorlax. Powering up also can matter... or at least powering to the point where bite does 5 damage instead of 4 when attacking Blisseys, which is probably around level 30, depending on both the attack IV and how high level Blisseys you are going to face.

Tyranitar is meant for attacking. I got iron tail crunch my first go round and am saving candy to evolve a second one. I'm envious of you because bite plus stone edge is a lethal attacker only rivaled by dragonites dragon breathe dragon claw or dragon tail outrage

Yes.

Power up all DT/O Dragonites as well as DT/O/H Dragons too

Since candies will probably be limited for Larvitar in general, just power up what you have to lvl 30 to attack or max it if you want it to sit in gyms...

Like someone else mentioned, no one stops at Tyranitar and runs when attacking a gym...CP is all that matters and he has the highest CP currently.

Hey guys I just evolved this generation's meta-defining attacker with the best move set ... Should I even bother?
