True Gym Training- Proposal

I would love to see Niantic make gym training REALLY training. How many of us have slogged through to finally evolve that Dragonite only to find it has the worst moves? Why not have Pokemon be able to learn a new, better move at the gym? There are a dozen ways they could go: 1) Gym X always teaches move x and never changes 2) Defeating the top mon at a gym allows you to learn one of its moves 3) Defeating the top mon allows you to choose between available moves. I'm sure you guys can think of a few more options. What do you think?

I don't see Niantic implementing any way of changing moves anytime soon, getting mons with high IV and best moveset is what keeps people playing at higher levels after the pokédex is almost completed, if we can get those moves from any other place than playing hours and hours to get the candies, hatching eggs and random luck they would lose money.

I would love they implemented some sort of TM's like on the games, but don't think it will happen.

I agree with you on every point. It could be made difficult or time consuming but yes, it will never happen. Still, one can hope.

Random luck is what makes me not want to try to get the perfect mon with the perfect moves. It's too much of a grind. I would fight a lot more gym battles if it actually did anything for my pokemon. As a result, I would need more potions from pokestops, thereby causing me to play more in general and use incubators faster. It cuts both ways.

I would like for pokemon to get training points that can be spent on buffs like moves, IV, Power-ups. It would make sense that it would still take some consistent effort to get the perfect mon (let alone many) but it would be more motivating than leaving it completely random like it is now.

I think the gym system needs a major upgrade, and I like the idea of introducing rewards other than XP, stardust and coins.

Today the only ways to improve a pokemon are to evolve it (for candy) or to power it up (for candy and stardust). Learning new moves, or even improving IV's, would be some welcome new ways that trainers could invest in their favorite pokemon. I think it could really enliven the stagnant gym scene and give players more motivation to battle.

If you could earn candy, new moves, or IV boosts by attacking and defending gyms, do you think every gym would still be stacked with Vaporeons? Few players need more Eevee candy or are desperate for a better Vaporeon - at least around here, where they are as common as rats. I think you would get to face a much better variety of gym defenders, and you would probably try out more attackers too.

It would be a self-balancing system. Pokemon that are too common would eventually disappear from gyms, to be replaced by more rare and unusual ones that people are trying to train.

I'm someone that's being screwed plenty of times with bad move sets. But also I got perfect move set mons and LOVE them. I'm against changing move sets because then EVERYONE will have perfect move sets and in essence wouldn't be perfect. And the cherishment of my perfect mons would disappear. Trust me, I wish my 100 IV Dragonite with SW/DC would meet a genie. I am anti-move set change. Frankly I think it would ruin the game forever. Bluntly, it's a stupid idea.
