Trainer Battle connection problems?

Has the Trainer Battle function been working well for you for local battles?

Because I've attempted local battles twice already and there seems to be a connection problem. Like the countdowns start late and the responses to the other player is not synchronized. Is this a thing in the current Trainer Battles?
