Trading a traded pokemon

My friend went to Europe and has a spare Mr. Mime. We’re going to swap regionals, but he only has 1 extra. If he trades it to my account, can I then trade it off to my wife’s account so that we each get the dex entry?

I know trades are locked so you can’t send them back to the original owner, but can you “pay it forward” and trade a traded pokemon to a different account?
