Trading to get cross-gen IV evolutions?

So with trading now a thing and Gen 4 standing right around the corner, do you guys think that some of the Gen 4 pokemon that evolve by trading in the regular games (Rhyperior, Electivire, Magmortar, PolZ, Dusknoir) is gonna be the way to collect them in pokemon go as well?

That might ruin some nice IV rhydons for example, but it is also a nice way to get rid of poor iv megahorn ones that I've been holding on to.

I dont think they would do that, given when trading was added, they didnt do that for pokemon like golem.

Things like that were added into the main games to force player cooperation, but because this game already does that with most things, t wouldn't be needed

When Gen 2 came out the Sun Stone was added as a way to differentiate which Gloom evolution you wanted. Despite Sunkern only having one evolution they kept the use of a Sun Stone as an evolution requirement for it, without retroactively adding the other stones for other stone evolutions.

I still hope trading isn't required for them, but at this point it wouldn't surprise me if it was.

My only reason I dont think it would happen is above, and also this, how would it benefit ninantic? its not like you can buy evolution items.

The furthest I think trading will go is with lucky pokemon, I dont think it will be required to evolve anything because you cant trade back, if it was you could trade and the iv's get rerolled when traded, but if traded back, the iv's revert to what they were with you originally, then trading to evolve would make sense, but requiring stardust to trade, and item, and giving up a pokemon you wont get back wouldn't make sense

The difference is that Golem was already in the game before trading was introduced. I can see Niantic being hesitant with changing how you get a hold of pokemon that were in the game for a longer time. With the Gen IV ones, they are free to make it however they see fit because a standard on how to achieve these pokemon has not yet been set.

I agree that it would suck to see this happen, but with the game's focus on social features, I just wouldn't be surprised...

I could and couldn't see this happening. It makes sense thematically but is a middle finger to people holding onto high-IV versions to evolve.

Agreed, ive been stockpiling Electabuzz and rhydon for weeks for those evolutions. But one big problem is theres no holding items in this game, and you cant trade back, so you would loose your pokemon

Hopefully no, the last thing I want to do is trade good IVd evolved mons for them to flop with horrible IVs after the trade.

Wasnt needed for Gengar, Alakazam, Machamp, Scizor, Steelix, Politoed, Slowking, or Porygon2.

I'd imagine they wouldnt do that for Gen 4.
