Trade value of low IV, rare mons
I think people are over-estimating low IV, rare mon's "trading" value. Examples are Dragonite, Snorlax, Tyranitar, etc.
When there are top IV, top moveset mons for trade, why would you bother to trade for anything less powerful? Trust me, there will be plenty of 91+IV, good moveset mons for trade when this feature is available due to all the spoofers. Don't wanna trade with spoofers? How would you even know if the person you are trading with is a spoofer or not?
The only low IV, bad moveset mons I would trade for are regional mons except for Heracross and maybe Kangaskhan because they have some uses. Other regionals are terrible and only good to complete the Pokedex. All other mons? You will eventually catch one.
Most players who's serious about the game will only want and only power up high IV and good moveset mons. What's the point of trading for a shitty low IV, bad moveset Dragonite or Tyranitar. You can't really use it for battle. You won't spend dust and candy on it becuz it's not good enough. And if it's rare to you, you won't have enough candy to power up anyway even if you do power up shitty mons.
Conclusion: no reason to keep those bad Dragonite, Snorlax, Tyranitar, etc. for trade. Because you won't like the trade people will offer so you just end up holding onto that mon. Best course of action? Just transfer those mons when a double candy event comes.

Well, while almost everything you said is true, you forget something very important, a LOT of people that plays this game are semi rural/urban, gen2 has been out for a month, do you know how many Larvitar and Mareep I have? One of each. And I consider my town a medium one with a "good" amount of rare spawns. I have been walking my only Larvitar for 300+km at this point, and I consider myself lucky because probably for an average semi rural player getting Dratini/Dragonite, Larvitar, Mareep, Lapras, Snorlax, etc. can take 4/5 months if you don't spend money on the game and buy incubators.
So the potential market for those mon are to complete the dex, even having bad iv and moveset, people will still want them. Of course they won't have the same value as higher iv one's, but they are not "trash" and may be very useful.
Another thing is that if trading won't be worlwide and you have to actually be next to each other (which it seems is the way they have decided) then those players will have again disadvantage to get some rares.
I agree with this. I don't see any Larvitar and Mareep where I live. I am willing to trade for a low IV Tyranitar with good moveset, even maybe a suboptimal moveset. However, the person willing trade it has to understand that the value is lower, and be willing to compromise to work out a mutually beneficial trade. I got extra Lapras for example that I could try to offer up, or low IV Snorlax but with ZN/BS. I wouldn't underestimate the value of trades of all range of mons. Not every player is a hard core trainer. Some are casuals, some are collectors. I know some of my kids friends that merely collect their favorite mons and try to get every moveset of that mon, even shitty ones.
Yes, Gen 2 has been out for a month, and your point? When the game was released in July/August, a lot of people didn't get Gen 1 rares such as Dragonite, Snorlax, Lapras, Chansey, etc for months. Some people don't even have them now. People's expectations are unreasonable. There's no set "time duration" on when you should catch a specific mon. If all Pokemons can be caught after one month of each Gen's release, without spoofing and tracking, Gen 3 to Gen 7 need to be released soon to satisfy these impatient players.
I agree that completing the Pokedex would be the only uses for these mons, as I have mentioned in my post. If that's the only use for that mon, it's trash or 1 candy to me. I would trade these bad mons 1 for 1 at the most only for transferring them to get the candy.
In cases of substantial rarity, supply and demand could come into play. Collectors often like rare things. Consider: what's the use of a Honus Wagner baseball card?
Roughly one out of one million wild Snorlax encounters will yield a 0% IV Level 1 female. These are many thousands of times rarer than the vastly easier to obtain, run-of-the-mill, 100% IV Level 20+ Snorlaxes. Expect that some people will care about such things.
People collect the weirdest things. :-)
Me for example, since I only on rare occasions battle in gyms the tier list are not that important for me. Instead my pet project is to level all my 16 100% IV pokemons to lvl 39, no matter moveset or species . So far I am done to with 11, (proud owner of a lvl 39 Dugtrio with perfect moveset) :-)
Here are a few instances where you may be wrong, just for sake of good conversation:
1.) Female Snorlax are extremely rare, so if they implement breeding they would be a commodity regardless of IV.
2.) Legacy moveset DB/DC Dragonites even under the 60% range could still be highly valued (or any legacy moveset that ends up being advantageous).
3.) In general not everyone cares about IV, and to some extent once you are over the 75% mark you are splitting hairs. I’m not saying go rip off people that have no idea that they have a 100% IV Larvitar and trade them for your 20% T-Rex you found, but some people may not really care all that much about IV. That being said, they may not have anything good to trade you for!
Female snorlax is not really that useful for breeding, just substitute with ditto, in the main game series, having a specific sex used to have it's uses (Transmiting moves, natures, pokeballs, etc), but if for some reason they restrict something to a specific sex, you can just breed until you get the sex you want and move on.
Excluding regional exclusives I wouldn't trade anything below 82% IVs and the moveset that I'm looking for. Less than that it wouldn't have any value to me. I had to transfer to the professor tons of +82% Pokemon to safe space. If I already have Snorlax and Lapras below 80%, why would I care of "buying" more?
For regional exclusives I wouldn't pay back anything crazy. Something slightly higher than the value that Mr Mime has to me (close to zero). So trading one exclusive for another sounds about the maximum that I would pay.
Look, we all have no idea how trading will work, so hard to predict the market...
But overall I think you all are undervaluing the low IV Pokémon, big time.
The original post said "you really can't use low IV in battle", and it is a fact that this is very wrong. Personally I have all the Pokémon I will ever need (live in a big city with everything) but I've also caught many low IV Pokémon that are otherwise valuable. My 38% Dragonite with DB/DC? He kills Pokémon every day. My 40% Snorlax with Zh/BS that was caught at level 30? Been in a gym for almost a month.
Obviously, the value goes way down with low IVs. But how many players out there would love to have a high CP Dragonite with DB/DC? Or a 2750cp Snorlax? Lots. Actually, the majority.
Therefore, demand = value
