Trade iv rerolls are insane!

So my girlfriend and I were traveling more than 100km away and decided to do some trading for extra Candies afterwards.

Every trade we tried said the CP of the traded Pokemon would go down, but that absolutely was not the case.

In one trade, I sent her a 133cp level 30 magikarp with poor IVs, and it came out as a 183cp magikarp that was "simply amazing" (>80% iv). There were a few other trades as well where a not great or decent Pokemon (often at a high level, or caught weather boosted) came out as strong or amazing.

Some Pokemon where neither of us had ever found a good one to consider evolving, we've traded and now at least one of us has one with good IVs.

Not sure how though, since for that magikarp for example it said it would arrive with at most 133cp, yet ended up at 183cp. So as much as I'd say to heed the warning (I sent her an 89% Larvitar that ended up under 50%, low level I just wanted candy) - in my experience sending high level Pokemon with poor IVs tends to be a good idea as there's a chance it'll go way up!

The upper limit is bugged. It always show the upper limit as the pokemon cp when in fact it can go up to 100%. The lower limit is probably correct though.

Don’t get too many grand ideas unless you have easy access to what you are trading. I never threw away any level 25 Tyranitars...however, I have no use for them. None I’ve traded have stayed above 2500 (100% is 2621). Similar with level 20 Tyranitars.

I shifted 6 Golems about 2450, somewhat below 2400 at their new homes. I did trade a 2867cp Gyarados as a favor, had an end result of 2817–that is the high end but not extremely rare result of a trade. Level 25 Machamps go to 1950 most times.

Out of 200+ trades, most cp advancement were some Magikarp (still nothing my level 40 would care about). Also some 2000cp Alolan Exeggutors slightly improved after finding a new home in a less competitive Pokémon storage unit.

a wild pokemon has ~4% to be above 82%, I assume the IV reroll at good friend level is maybe only slightly higher (min 1/1/1 instead of 0/0/0). so obviously if you trad a hatched or raid catch mon, it will go down in the large majority of cases.
The thing is, if you're not going to use it anyway, you have nothing to lose, but I would still wait for BF level to get a better chance.

We were great friends already which may have helped.

It also felt like things we had caught a lot of (like magikarp and machop) were much more likely to get transferred at high IV values. Perhaps that was just our luck, but perhaps the person receiving the pokemon has a better chance at good IVs if they personally have caught a lot of that species.

I just traded a 693 spheal and it went up to 714, which was a good enough evolve for the one getting it. The visible pre-trade range for great friends seems to be properly expressing the possibility of improving its IV
