When trades become available, what Pokémon do you have ready to use as "trade bait" to get something else you want?

My roommate really wants a Gengar. I'm going to dangle it in front of him for his perfect Wigglytuff (IV and top moveset) that he is just 'meh' about for whatever reason. ?

Sadly I don't have much trade bait. Maybe good venusaurs, mid range dragonites, plenty of nidos. I would easily trade someone 20 vaporeons for a decent machamp.

He's my favorite and yet the farthest from evolving for me...playing since beginning and only have 70ish candy. Only caught 1 wild machop. He will literally be my last one to evolve.

I have two, so I'll definitely hook you up with one. Both 95% with Bullet Punch / Submission.

It might be that trading is something that will never come out, as it is somewhat hard to implement in away that it does not break the game.

I have handful of Steel Wing Dragonites and few small Lapras waiting for trading. Also few high IV Tier 1-2 Pokemons with fair movesets, but not the ones I would like to have. O, and a perfect IV Psyduck. :p

Never put much thought into the health/quality of the game as it pertains to trading.

How rampant do you think is the multiple account thing?

Apparently it's becoming a big deal now, I just saw an article called "gym jerks" or something close to it about multi acct users. The game needs trading, but they've got to be really careful how they do it.

I hate that people could just buy a 100iv lapras or the thought of gyms literally being 10 snorlaxes. It could break the game overnight if unrestricted.

As you can see not much unless International trading is implemented...otherwise Porygon and a near perfect IV Magmar are the main two.

Hopefully the trading thing ends up being another unfulfilled promise. Honestly I think the trading system will kill this game.

I think trading could make a great addition to the game so long as there's some background mechanism making sure that trades are somewhat "balanced".

If people with multiple accounts can just catch that one dragonite they found on 15 accounts and transfer them all to the same account, then yes that's ridiculous. Also if wealthy people can just buy good pokemon, that's equally ridiculous (although it may actually drive a lot more people to play more depending on the prices).

If it's actually balanced trading though - I mean that has always been a core part of pokemon games. Even without link cables, you would trade NPCs in the games to get pokemon you couldn't catch. With geographic allocation, there are definite perks to trading and it could help a lot. So long as there's some enforcement of trading pokemon within a few levels of eachother and of similar tier (i.e. not a level 30 pidgey for a level 30 dragonite) then it could work pretty well. Maybe there would still be some abuse with movesets or IVs being upgraded for money, but both moveset and IV are completely random luck based and with the other parts satisfied they "buyer" could have just as well ended up with it anyways.

It would be interesting if candy could be traded too. E.g. I have two good Growlithe but haven't evolved an Arcanine yet because I don't find them nearly enough. My friend had a growlithe nest nearby and farmed hundreds of candies but never got a good Growlithe (because nests had weak spawns for a while). We long ago discussed that if it were possible I would give him one of my good Growlithes in exchange for the candy to evolve (and power up) the other one (and if it wasn't, he could just evolve my Growlithe for me then trade me an Arcanine for something like a Hypno which I have dozens of since Drowzees are everywhere here).

I don't know anything about pokemon games, but I have played Ingress for years. I've wondered if Niantic will introduce something like capsules into PoGo - you load up a capsule with gear/pokemon, drop it on the ground, and another player can come by and pick it up. Of course, this isn't quite what people have in mind when they hear "trade," but it's probably the easiest thing to do from a coding perspective- I don't really see Niantic designing a player-to-player interface for trades.

If they use Pokémons current trade system it would be fairly regulated, server light, and could catch cheaters.

The way Pokémon game trading works:
Log onto GTS (global trade system )

1.You can offer 1 Pokémon at a time for the one Pokémon you want for it.
A. It has settings so you can be as specific or as vague as you like.
-gender preferred (not applicable in PoGo)
-level range 11-20 (for example)
-what specific Pokémon
B. You'll never get a trade if what you're asking is ridiculous for what you're offering.
-you're Pokémon will stay until it gets traded for or you take it down.
-you cannot offer up more than 1 Pokémon at a time.

2.You can look through the list of offered Pokémon using these settings to find Pokémon you want, but you need to fit what they're asking.
-you'd search by dex number/Pokémon name
-then you could pick level range
-and then gender to narrow it down.
-you can trade for offered Pokémon as often as you like.
-this system helped fill the dex more than ever being abused to get strong Pokémon.

Lastly, all legendary Pokémon offered were always asking for other legendary in return so, yeah, don't see that really changing even in PoGo.

Maybe just offer a GTS but no person to person trading as it cannot be regulated and is definitely exploitable. In the Pokémon games, it doesn't matter as much if you cheat because you and your friends will know and won't battle with you or don't care. However, in tournaments, all you Pokémon are code checked for legitimacy, and you're banned from the tournament or lose anything awarded if caught. (They're really on top of that, although I'm not too sure about Niantic).

This system weeds out "breaking the balance" and the more recent systems Implemented can tell if a Pokémon was hacked based on the Pokémons coding. Could be done the same way for PoGO if they find a way to tell which Pokémon were obtained by spoofing.

Make trades available only after hitting a certain high level, like 30, as a means of taking out people with multiple garbage accounts?

30 seems a bit reach. 21-24 would be more fair.

I'm still not 30 and I've been playing since the start. 30 would be like allowing trading after the elite 4. 31-40 is end game. They usually let you trade after the first couple of gyms. That'd be anywhere from 15-25 based on hours spent. However, you could easily jump from 15-20 in a day or two if you had the time, and 20-21 is the first big exp jump.

I am pretty worried about trading. I don't know how they would or could restrict it enough to keep it from really hurting things. 1v1 battles would be fine, but gyms would be hurt. I read they are putting a lot of thought into it for that very matter though.

My box is filling up with extra final evolutions that I am just holding onto for trading. I have found the 6 Pokemon I don't have between 4 people, so now it is just a waiting game. I figure if I have things to trade, there is no sense in walking for 24 Omanyte candy, 47 Kabuto candy, or 40 Magnemite candy. But I am looking to gather for 90%+ IV's for all final evolutions, so at least I can trade for those.
