Top pokemon to make lucky

Which do you think are worth it, both regular pokemon & special trade pokemon.
Also Swampert is supposed to be very impressive in the future, are there any others worth stocking up on?

I'd say rayquaza, sky attack moltres, dragonite line, bagon, machop line, the hoenn starters would be my top priorities.

Throw them all in the pot, add some oregano, maybe some basil. Let simmer for about 15 minutes and you'll have a great lucky stew

Pretty much, got about 60 of each nonlegendary to mirror.

The bosted odds are fantastic, with the hoenn event so recent, and seemingly boosted torchic, its not hard to have a lot available.

I would go a totally different route than MetagrossMaxis here: In my opinion since lucky pokemon make power ups cost less stardust, it is more interesting in pokémon for which you have lots of candy or can easily acquire more candy. Thus you can power them up really further and have them rival other pokémon that are stronger on paper but that you can't power up much more due to lack of resources (particularly legendaries). Il you raid very often and have hundreds of rare candies, this is a moot point, but otherwise I would suggest focusing on relatively common species and/or those which buddy distance is 3km or less. Good examples of that would be Breloom (especially with Grass Knot), Weavile, Rhyperior, Piloswine (soon Mamoswine), Honchkrow, Gengar, Machamp, Magneton (anticipating for Magnezone) and every good starter with a CD move. Also interesting but a bit less strong: Sharpedo, Alakazam, Houndoom, Gyarados, Shiftry, Cacturne, Victreebel, Tangrowth.

Going to agree here.

But I'm also going to put in a Pokémon that doesn't fit into these categories - Tyranitar. Ttar is a Raid Boss, and is fairly easy to take down even when Weather Boosted. With a Silver Pinap, you can get as much as 20 candies for catching it, so candies aren't quite as much of an issue as it would be for other pseudo-legendary's (Dragonite, for example).

A double-dark TTar is always going to be a great Pokémon to have, particularly when it comes to Legendary Raids as many Legendary's (and EX-Raid bosses) are Psychic, which Ttar double-resists. So I would add Ttar to this list while it's a Raid Boss.

I wasnt going in the direction of stardust cheapness first, my thinking was more so high IV's with the stardust reduction being a side benefit.

But i also agree I hadn't considered that. Nonlegendaires are fairly easy to amass candies for, and thus you will be powering up a lot more of them compared to legendaries (and thus more dust cost), but more luckies would greatly reduce that dust cost.

Grass knot breloom also now lives in the shadow of Grass knot roserade, but the others I agree with, and am going to try for luckies on those myself.

Save at least Torchics and Mudkips for community days, Blaziken and Swampert will become pretty amazing if they get Blast Burn and Hydro Cannon. The gen 4 starters won't be as impressive.
Bagon is another one potentially worth saving for its CD.

Top pokemon to make lucky is generally anything you would really like to power up as it saves dust. Unless you're one of the few crazies sitting on 10+ million stardust, conserving it where possible is vital so you can make more raid counters or more PvP pokemon.
Another aspect is rarity. Special trade limited pokemon are difficult to get lucky, as are some ultra rares like Shedninja, Nincada, Spiritomb and often regionals.

A good balance of rarity and power is any great legendary, like Rayquaza or Mewtwo.

But with legendaries, you'll be limited by candy regardless. A small (or even not so small) stardust savings won't slow you down. But for something like Gyarados, one can get enough candy over time, the question is would you power it up at all if it wasn't lucky. Those are the ones that tickle my fancy.

Data mines indicate that Blaziken will get Blaze Kick (a fire move) and Swampert will get Muddy Water (a blues musician).

Really? That'd be awesome if they get muddy water and blaze kick, they are their former signature moves.
